Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 20, 2023 What Bletchingly Stakes Day 2023 Where Caulfield Racecourse – 22 Station St, Caulfield East VIC 3145 When Saturday, July 22, 2023 First Race 12:05pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Feature racing returns to Caulfield on Saturday afternoon with the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes headlining a stacked nine-race meeting . Following an unseasonably dry spell in Melbourne, the track has come up a Good 4. While the rail is out 6m the entire circuit, no track bias is expected with the conditions on offer. Racing commences at 12:05pm AEST. Bletchingly Stakes Top Tip: Mnementh Mnementh has been racing in super form in recent times with a win in the Wagga Town Plate and Listed VIC Sprint Series Final separating a run in the Group 1 Goodwood. He is a nine-time winner at the 1200m and despite this being his first look at Caulfield, he is hard to go past. The six-year-old has winning form behind him, unlike most of his rivals, and from barrier six should lob in a perfect position under Craig Williams. With even luck, Mnementh should prove a touch too strong late. Bletchingly Stakes Race 8 – #5 Mnemnth (6) 6yo Gelding | T: Mitchell Beer | J: Craig Williams (58.5kg) $6 with PlayUp Best Bet at Caulfield: Kin Godolphin’s Kin was a dominant winner at the Caulfield 1100m on July 8 and, on her return to the track and trip, looks hard to go past in the opening leg of the quaddie. Following Celine Gaudray’s 2kg claim, the Impending filly gets in with just 56kg on her back and looks perfectly weighted. With a genuinely run race expected, look for Gaudray to have this girl towards the rear of the field from a tricky barrier (12). With the strongest turn of foot and a clear class edge, Kin should just be better than this lot. Best Bet Race 6 – #1 Kin (12) 3yo Filly | T: James Cummings | J: Celine Gaudray (a2) (58kg) $2.20 with Bet365 Next Best Bet at Caulfield: Va Via We will be hoping it is a big day for Godolphin, as three-year-old Va Via looks hard to beat in the second leg of the quaddie. The Astern filly broke a winless drought of 479 days when saluting at the Caulfield 1200m on June 24, winning by 5.25 lengths after giving her rivals a start. She drops 1.5kg while staying at the same track and trip, and despite this being a slightly tougher event, Va Via should bring up a second-straight win. Next Best Race 7 – #6 Va Via (7) 3yo Filly | T: James Cummings | J: Blake Shinn (56.5kg) $2.70 with Palmerbet Best Value at Caulfield: Cardigan Queen Cardigan Queen has returned in fine form this campaign. The four-year-old mare produced a stunning final 400m to score over 1300m on May 27 at Sandown, and despite being eight weeks between runs, she seemingly does her best work when given a freshen-up. Barrier 10 on the weekend is offset by her want to get back and run on, and with a strong tempo expected, this girl looks set to get the race run to her liking. The 4kg weight advantage over race favourite St Lawrence also helps. Best Value Race 9 – #9 Cardigan Queen (10) 4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Harry Coffey (57.5kg) $8.50 with Unibet Saturday quaddie tips for Caulfield races Caulfield quadrella selections Saturday, July 22, 2023 1-2 1-4-6 1-2-5-6 1-3-9-16 Investment: $96 for 100% Latest horse racing news View the full article
