Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 20, 2023 What Morphettville Parks Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Saturday, July 22, 2023 First Race 11:47am ACST Visit Ladbrokes The Parks track at Morphettville will host a competitive nine-race program on Saturday afternoon. With rain forecast on race day and the track already a Soft 5, we expect to be racing on a Soft 6 or Soft 7 at some point, so fitness could play a key role. The rail comes out 9m the entire circuit, with the action getting underway at 11:47am ACST. Best Bet at Morphettville: Alhambra Lad In the opener, Patrick Payne’s Alhambra Lad will be looking to build his picket fence with a fourth-straight win. The five-year-old gelding has strung together consecutive Sandown 2400m wins in impressive fashion and now strikes a winnable BM72 at the same trip. Lachlan Overall has been aboard in each of those last three wins, and from barrier eight the pair will look to take control of proceedings. With 59.5kg on his back following Overall’s claim, Alhambra Lad will take a power of running down in a field stacked with non-winners. Best Bet Race 1 – #2 Alhambra Lad (8) 5yo Gelding | T: Patrick Payne | J: Lachlan Overall (a3) (62.5kg) $2.40 with Bet365 Next Best at Morphettville: Picargo With two wins and two seconds to begin this campaign, Ryan Balfour’s Picargo is sure to take some beating. The six-year-old just could not pick up the in-form Metro Legend at Gawler on July 8, but his win the start prior was quite dominant. With 58.5kg on his back following Alana Livesey’s 3kg claim, he gets in perfectly at the weights in a BM82 field where he is clearly the class horse. He gives away just 1kg to race favourite Jacks On Ice, and considering he will be stalking his main market rival throughout, Picargo is going to take a power of holding out. Next Best Race 3 – #1 Picargo (8) 6yo Gelding | T: Ryan Balfour | J: Alana Livesey (a3) (62.5kg) $5 with PlayUp Best Value at Morphettville: Spanish Snitzel The Con Kelly-trained Spanish Snitzel was well beaten at Bendigo on June 29, but his wins at his two starts prior suggest he is over the odds here. The five-year-old gelding will appreciate any rain that arrives in Adelaide, having won five times on wet decks and placed in another four. In a small field of eight, he will not be too far from the speed upon straightening. With a few of his rivals wanting to set the pace, the race looks perfectly set up for Spanish Snitzel to unwind down the heart of the track and salute at a nice price with online bookmakers. Best Value Race 4 – #3 Spanish Snitzel (7) 5yo Gelding | T: Con Kelly | J: Jason Holder (59.5kg) $11 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Morphettville Morphettville quadrella selections Saturday, July 22, 2023 1-7-8 1-2-5 1-2-3-10 3-4-7 Investment: $108 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
