SURGE CAPACITY (f, 3, Flintshire {GB}–Strong Incentive, by Warrior's Reward) gave trainer Chad Brown a fifth consecutive victory and seventh overall–all since 2015–in Friday's GIII Lake George S. at Saratoga, while Seth Klarman's Klaravich Stables was winning the race for the third time in the last four renewals. One of four in the race for the Brown barn and off at 5-1 to build on a 1 1/2-length debut graduation at Monmouth June 10, the homebred scratched down onto the rail and made best use of the draw, tucking in neatly just behind the pace set by the outposted Secret Money (Good Samaritan) and Princess Bettina (Will Take Charge). Comfortable inside beneath Joel Rosario, Surge Capacity was patiently ridden on the swing for home and when Secret Money drifted a bit wide into the lane, Rosario pounced on the opportunity to send Surge Capacity through at the fence. In front right at the eighth pole, she kicked on gamely, as stablemate Tax Implcations (GB) (Mehmas {Ire}) ran on to complete a 1-2 for the stable. Secret Money held for third, while Brown's joint 2-1 chances Revalita (Fr) (Recoletos {Fr}) and Liguria (War Front) lumbered home fourth and fifth, respectively. Time for the one mile on yielding turf–the day's lone event kept on the grass–was 1:38 flat. O/B-Klaravich Stables (KY); T-Chad Brown.
