Another week of racing in Victoria gets underway with a competitive eight-race program on the Ballarat synthetic on Monday afternoon. A dry winter’s day is forecast for Ballarat on Monday, so we should see perfect conditions greet combatants throughout the day. Action is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet at Ballarat: Sistine Explorer

In the penultimate race of the day, Andrew Noblet’s Sistine Explorer gets a perfect chance to bring up a second straight win. The four-year-old mare set up a big lead over the 1500m at this track on July 11 and despite tiring late was never in real danger when breaking her rivals’ hearts. She steps back to the 1400m on Monday, and we expect Neil Farley to be just as daring once again in a race that lacks many speed influences. Sistine Explorer rises 4kg in the weights, but she should be able to run her rivals into the ground once again.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Silks#1 Sistine Explorer (6)

4yo Mare | T: Andrew Noblet | J: Neil Farley (62.5kg)

$3 with PlayUp

Next Best at Ballarat: Jaz Tycoon

The Greg Eurell-trained Jaz Tycoon was hitting the line nicely on debut over 1200m and the step up to the 1400m looks ideal. The three-year-old gelding gave his rivals too much of a start over the sprint trip and did well to get within three-lengths of the winner on July 3. Dylan Turner sticks on board and with a bit of luck, he can hold a more positive position from barrier five. The son of Written Tycoon produced a strong finishing burst and a similar finish should see him prove too good for maiden company.

Next Best

Race 2 – Silks#4 Jaz Tycoon (5)

3yo Gelding | T: Greg Eurell | J: Dylan Turner (58kg)

$2.80 with Boombet

Best Value at Ballarat: Sebastian The Fox

On his day, Sebastian The Fox should simply blow his rivals away on the synthetic. The four-year-old gelding has gone around in considerably harder events in his career and despite needing to lug 63kg first-up, we’re happy to side with Shay Keating’s galloper. The son of Foxwedge is already a winner on the Ballarat all-weather track and if he gets a genuine tempo over the 1200m, Sebastian The Fox has the turn of foot required to salute at a nice price with online betting sites.

Best Value

Race 5 – Silks#1 Sebastian The Fox (3)

4yo Gelding | T: Shay Keating | J: Jarrod Fry (63kg)

$9.50 with Bet365
