Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 26, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 26, 2023 What Kembla Grange Races Where Kembla Grange Racecourse – Princes Hwy, Kembla Grange NSW 2526 When Thursday, July 27, 2023 First Race 12:20pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to the Illawarra region of NSW with Kembla Grange set to host eight competitive races on Thursday afternoon. The rail is out +6m from the 1100m to winning post, and then out +3m for the remainder. We should have picturesque conditions with a Good 4 surface expected, and the first race is set to get underway at 12:20pm AEST. Best Bet at Kembla Grange: House Of Cards House Of Cards made his debut at Randwick-Kensington on July 5 and was one worth following out of the meeting. The 1150m journey was far too short of his best, yet he powered through the line after getting no luck in transit. The son of Exceed And Excel got back to near last prior to straightening and still needed to weave through a checkered passage to finish mid-field. He closed off strongly, suggesting the 1300m on Thursday should be ideal. Best Bet Race 4 – #4 House Of Cards (5) 2yo Colt | T: Michael Freedman | J: Tyler Schiller (57kg) $3.30 with PlayUp Next Best at Kembla Grange: Windmill Road It’s rare to see an unraced six-year-old, but that’s exactly the case with Windmill Road as he makes his debut this Thursday. Trainer Sara Ryan acquired him after a long time off the scene and elected to geld this untried galloper before heading to the barrier trials. It seems to have done the trick, with both jump-outs for the new stable catching the eye. Being sired by Fiorente, it’s fair to say Windmill Road will only improve as the preparation goes on, but with Aaron Bullock to pilot from the inside draw, we’re happy to take a chance on him first-up. Best Bet Race 3 – #2 Windmill Road (2) 6yo Gelding | T: Sara Ryan | J: Aaron Bullock (59kg) $4.50 with Neds Best Value at Canterbury: Los Padres We last saw this James Cummings-trained galloper at Randwick-Kensington on March 22, and although he was disappointing, he did run into some quality types – the winner, Libertad, went on to score a Group 3 success. Los Padres has since undergone a gelding operation and been trialling exceedingly well with Zac Lloyd in the saddle. He’s drawn gate two to gain an economical run throughout the 1200m, and despite being first-up, we’re confident he can pick up his second career win.
