Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 28, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 28, 2023 What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219 When Sunday, July 30, 2023 First Race 12:30pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Geelong Racecourse is scheduled to host an eight-race program on Sunday afternoon. With unseasonably clear skies forecast, it would be no surprise to see the current Soft 6 rating upgraded to a Soft 5 by the time the first race jumps, with the potential of improving to a Good 4 at some point. The rail is out 3m the entire circuit, with the action getting underway at 12:30pm AEST. Best Bet at Geelong – Skywriter Chris Waller’s Skywriter showed plenty of potential during her initial campaign, and first-up from a spell, we are hoping she can break her maiden. The three-year-old was going around in tougher maidens at Sandown last prep, including when splitting Triggerific and the smart Tass over 1300m. She returns at 1212m on Sunday, a trip she placed at on debut at Moe, and with the blinkers going on for the first time, Skywriter looks the goods. Best Bet Race 4 – #11 Skywriter (10) 3yo Filly | T: Chris Waller | J: Daniel Stackhouse (57.5kg) $3.80 with Unibet Next Best at Geelong – The Woke Waiter The Woke Waiter has his hoof on the till with two seconds to begin this campaign. The Palentino gelding already boasts two minor placings at the 1400m, including one at the track and trip in January earlier this year. He draws to do no work under Daniel Stackhouse, and as long as he gets even luck when it matters most, The Woke Waiter has the runs on the board to suggest he will prove too good for maiden company. Next Best Race 2 – #7 The Woke Waiter (3) 3yo Gelding | T: Mike Moroney | J: Daniel Stackhouse (58kg) $5.50 with PlayUp Best Value at Geelong – Toyz On Fire The Robert Hickmott-trained Toyz On Fire was beaten less than three lengths when resuming at the Geelong 1200m. The mare was horribly held up for a run on that occasion and simply never got a crack at her rivals, going to the line hard held. She has a win and two placings from five second-up runs, so she clearly does improve with a race under her belt. From barrier 15, Declan Bates will have her settled towards the rear of the field in clear air, and if she is close to her best, her turn of foot might just be too good for these. Best Value Race 7 – #9 Toyz On Fire (15) 5yo Mare | T: Robert Hickmott | J: Declan Bates (58kg) $17 with Boombet Sunday Quaddie Tips for Geelong Geelong quadrella selections Sunday, July 30, 2023 1-2-7-8-9 1-5-6-10 3-5-6-9-11 2-11-14 Investment: $300 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
