Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 29, 2023 Journalists Share Posted July 29, 2023 What Warrnambool Races Where Warrnambool Racing Club – 2-64 Grafton Rd, Warrnambool VIC 3280 When Monday, July 31, 2023 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The Warrnambool Racing Club is set to kick off another week of racing in Victoria with an eight-race meeting programmed. Rain is forecast in the leadup to Monday’s meeting, so we will well and truly be racing on a Heavy 10 come the opening event. The final Victorian meeting for the 2022/23 season commences at 1pm AEST, with the rail out 4m. Best Bet at Warrnambool: Pythagoras Aaron Purcell’s Pythagoras loves the slop, being a four-time winner and placed a further three times on rain-affected ground. He has not won since the Warrnambool May Carnival, but the son of Zoffany strikes the easiest race he has contested in that time. The five-year-old gelding does his best racing up on speed and from barrier 10, Jaylah Kennedy will use her 3kg claim to her advantage and have this bloke leading or outside lead. With 60kg on his back and being the best horse in the race, Pythagoras looks a clear best bet of the day. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Pythagoras (10) 5yo Gelding | T: Aaron Purcell | J: Jaylah Kennedy (a3) (63kg) $4.20 with PlayUp Next Best at Warrnambool: Maunarich The Lindsay Smith-trained Maunarich hasn’t been seen since a luckless debut at the Warrnambool 1100m on March 13. The three-year-old filly ran up plenty of backsides on that occasion and went to the line untested, beaten just over two-lengths. She draws barrier 13 for her return and despite having no official trials in preparation, we’re hoping her natural ability takes her into a race like this. If Beau Mertens can keep her out of trouble first-up, Maunarich looks hard to beat. Next Best Race 3 – #11 Maunarich (13) 3yo Gelding | T: Lindsey Smith | J: Beau Mertens (57.5kg) $4.50 with Neds Best Value at Warrnambool: Sailor’s Rum We are hoping the applications of the blinkers can help Sailor’s Rum put his best hoof forward. The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained sprinter contested much tougher races than this as an early season juvenile when far from disgraced. He has struggled on the synthetic surfaces at Ballarat and Pakenham recently, but back onto the turf on Monday, could see the son of Merchant Navy bring his best. If Beau Mertens can have him settled outside lead, Sailor’s Rum has the ability to put away a race like this in a couple of strides. Best Value Race 2 – #11 Sailor’s Rum (10) 2yo Gelding | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Beau Mertens (57kg) $9 with Bet365 Monday quaddie tips for Warrnambool Warrnambool quadrella selections Monday, July 31, 2023 1-4 3-4-6-7-8-10 1-2-3-5 1-2-5-6 Investment: $192 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
