The stewards had to decide this one but Eclipse Champion 2-year-old colt FORTE (Violence–Queen Caroline, by Blame) got the winning edge in a photo finish to take the GII Jim Dandy S. Saturday at the Spa. Pacesetter Saudi Crown (Always Dreaming) held the advantage nearly the entire length of the race but Forte tipped outside off a muddy rail, created an opening inside of Angel of Empire (Classic Empire), and just wore down the leader on the wire to win. An inquiry was lodged into the events of the stretch run but the stewards ultimately decided to leave Forte as the winner with Saudi Crown having to settle for second. The 3-year-old colts covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.61. Lifetime Record: Ch. 2-year-old colt, MGISW, 9-7-1-0.
