Country racing heads the way of Taree on Tuesday afternoon as the Manning Valley Race Club hosts an intriguing eight-race program. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, and with a favourable forecast heading into race-day, expect the surface to be declared a Good 4. The first race is set to get underway at 12:20pm AEST.

Best Bet: Criminal Art

Criminal Art is a seven-start maiden on the verge of success after a fantastic effort at Moruya on July 14. On that occasion, she got back in the ruck before cutting the corner and building the revs on the inside rail to be defeated by just 0.2 of a length. It was clearly her best run to date for the Marc Chevalier barn, with the provincial circuits proving a bit too tough for this daughter of Artie Schiller. She looks perfectly placed here and should notch her maiden victory.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Criminal Art#5 Criminal Art (5)

3yo Filly | T: Marc Chevalier | J: Julia Presits (a1.5kg) (57kg)

$3.60 with Bet365

Next Best: Corvalist

Peaking third-up, Corvalist looks very hard to beat in this maiden contest. His latest effort at Scone on July 20 caught the eye when trying to fend off Flying Birds over the 1200m; the three-year-old couldn’t quite manage the task, but he bravely held on to second position. He’s now had two runs under his belt heading into Tuesday, and with fitness on his side, look for Corvalist to attempt making every post a winner with apprentice Benjamin Osmond on board.

Next Best

Race 2 – Corvalist#1 Corvalist (6)

3yo Gelding | T: Kris Lees | J: Benjamin Osmond (a2kg) (59kg)

$3.20 with Neds

Best Value: Tornado Light

Tornado Light was impressive when resuming at Scone on July 14, and despite the margin reading a 4.4-length defeat, she should’ve finished much closer with even running. She drew wide and was forced back to the rear of the field, navigating a passage under Makayla Weir, but saw only backsides with 300m to run. We’re more than happy to forgive that effort, and with a positive steer from barrier one, Tornado Light should be peeling off the leader’s back late to score career win number three.

Best Value

Race 6 – Tornado Light#9 Tornado Light (1)

5yo Mare | T: Tracey Bartley | J: Ashley Morgan (57.5kg)

$8 with Unibet
