Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 2, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 2, 2023 What Ballarat Races Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352 When Friday, August 4, 2023 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The synthetic track at Ballarat Turf Club is the destination for racing in Victoria on Friday afternoon. An eight-race program is set down for decision, and with showers forecast throughout the day, it may pay to be up on speed so as to avoid any kickback. Racing is set to commence at 1pm AEST. Best Bet at Ballarat: Been Our Angel We were with Been Our Angel on debut at Pakenham on July 20, when he was grabbed in the shadows of the winning post after leading the field up. The three-year-old colt defied the racing pattern on a blustery day, with leaders struggling to feature in the finish after copping a nasty headwind throughout. The Harry Angel colt managed to put a couple of lengths on Rich And Joyful back in third, suggesting the run was better than what it may appear. From barrier five, Madison Lloyd will look for the rails from jump, and a similar effort to his debut should be more than good enough. Best Bet Race 3 – #8 Been Our Angel (5) 3yo Colt | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Madison Lloyd (a0) (57kg) Bet with PlayUp Next Best at Ballarat: Red Phantom Nick Ryan’s Red Phantom returns from a runner-up effort at Morphettville. The four-year-old gelding is undefeated on synthetic surfaces in three starts, with two of those wins coming at Ballarat. He smashed rivals in BM64 company at 1400m and then again at 1500m here prior to his Morphettville run. The step up to BM70 company should be no issue, and from barrier three he should find the lead with ease under Rhys McLeod. From there, Red Phantom looks hard to run down. Next Best Race 4 – #1 Red Phantom (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Nick Ryan | J: Rhys McLeod (61kg) Bet with Boombet Best Value at Ballarat: Hallowed Ground The Tom Dabernig-trained Hallowed Ground has not won in over a year, but a return to the synthetic on Friday could spell the end of that drought. The five-year-old has three wins and a second at the track, and despite not hitting the frame over the 1000m sprint in three goes, he should be prominent on his first crack at the trip on this deck. From barrier two, if he can cross Cover Star from barrier one, looks a nice play in the second leg of the quaddie. Best Value Race 6 – #2 Hallowed Ground (2) 5yo Gelding | T: Tom Dabernig | J: Neil Farley (58kg) Bet with Bet365 Friday quaddie tips for Ballarat synthetic races Ballarat quadrella selections Friday, August 4, 2023 Field 1-2-3-4 3-4-5 1-2-4-6-7 Investment: $720 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
