Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 2, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 2, 2023 What Coffs Harbour Cup Day Where Coffs Harbour Racing Club & Function Centre – 62 Howard St, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450 When Friday, August 4, 2023 First Race 12:20pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Country racing heads to Coffs Harbour on Friday afternoon for a stacked eight-race program kicking off at 12:20pm. The $150,000 Coffs Harbour Cup (1600m) is the feature event, with the winner earning Big Dance eligibility for the first Tuesday in November. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit for the meeting, and while there are some showers on the forecast heading into race-day, we don’t expect it to affect the current Soft 5 track rating. Coffs Harbour Cup: Hosier The 2023 edition of the Coffs Harbour Cup looks to be a wide-open affair. Hosier, the defending champ, comes here in great order third-up after running second at Rosehill on July 22 in the Listed Winter Challenge. He was ridden to take a sit in behind the speed on that occasion, which the son of Camelot seemingly relished, storming into the minor money. He’ll need luck from barrier eight on Friday, but if he gets it, Hosier will look the winner at some stage. Coffs Harbour Cup Race 7 – #1 Hosier (8) 6yo Gelding | T: Mark Minervini | J: Ashley Morgan (61kg) Bet with Bet365 Best Bet at Coffs Harbour: Olympic Theatre Olympic Theatre will be taking a significant drop in grade on Friday, and despite having to carry a hefty weight, he must be considered the one to beat in the fifth race. He strips much fitter for his effort at Canterbury on July 26 in a race that can only be described as a messy affair, with Decimus causing massive interference throughout. Take him on his win prior to that performance and Olympic Theatre looks perfectly placed to chalk up his fifth career win. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Olympic Theatre (6) 5yo Gelding | T: Richard & Will Freedman | J: Zac Wadick (a1.5kg) (62.5kg) Bet with Neds Next Best Bet: Debussy Debussy was a dominant winner at Grafton on July 13, getting up by a length thanks to a perfect steer in behind the speed. The five-year-old gelding gets an ideal setup to find the winner’s enclosure again, courtesy of drawing barrier four. It means Grant Buckley has the tactical advantage to either lead or take a sit once again, and regardless of where he lands, Debussy should be very hard to chase down. Next Best Race 2 – #2 Debussy (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Tony Ball | J: Grant Buckley (60kg) Bet with Palmerbet Friday quaddie tips – Coffs Harbour Cup Day 2023 Coffs Harbour quadrella selections Friday, August 4, 2023 1-3 1-2-4-11 1-4-7-10-11-12 1-2-6-8-11-15 Investment: $288 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
