Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 4, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 4, 2023 What Forbes Cup Day Where Forbes Jockey Club – Racecourse Rd, Forbes NSW 2871 When Sunday, August 6, 2023 First Race 12pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Country racing heads to Forbes on Sunday afternoon for the track’s feature race-day. Highlighted by the $50,000 Forbes Cup, with Big Dance eligibility up for grabs, there are eight races lined up from 12pm AEST onwards. The rail is in the true position throughout, and with clear skies forecast across the weekend, we should be racing on a Good 4 surface. Forbes Cup Tip: Dr Evil We’re banking on Kangaroo Court accepting at Rosehill on Saturday, leaving Dr Evil as a clear on-top selection in the 1600m Forbes Cup. He’s been a model of consistency this preparation, as the now seven-year-old gelding continues to shape up in strong metropolitan benchmark company – including his latest effort at Randwick on July 29. This is much easier than anything Dr Evil has faced in town, and the John Steinmetz barn has him perfectly placed to pick up a winner’s cheque for the first time since February. Forbes Cup Race 7 – #2 Dr Evil (5) 7yo Gelding | T: John Steinmetz | J: Shaun Guymer (60kg) $6.50 with Bet365 Best Bet at Forbes: Pozesana Formerly trained by Chris Waller, Pozesana has had one start since being acquired by Gayna Williams, and we think it was a pass mark at Bathurst on July 25. She was doing her best work through the line over the 1100m journey and needed the run after two months off the scene. The Good-rated track and an extra 200m should be ideal for this daughter of Deep Field, and provided jockey Robyn Freeman can scrape paint up the inside late, Pozesana shouldn’t be far away from breaking her maiden status. Best Bet Race 3 – #8 Pozesana (2) 4yo Mare | T: Gayna Williams | J: Robyn Freeman (55kg) $2.80 with Neds Next Best at Forbes: Kattegat Kattegat returned from a 78-day spell at Kembla Grange on July 20 and ran into a very progressive type in the form of Dancing Alone. Natalie Jarvis’ runner was no match that day, which the $51 quote with online bookmakers suggested pre-race; however, he wasn’t disgraced, only being beaten 3.5 lengths. This should be a race of tactics, and it should suit Kattegat nicely with jockey Billy Owen having all options available from barrier five. Next Best Race 6 – #2 Kattegat (5) 7yo Gelding | T: Natalie Jarvis | Billy Owen (59kg) $4.80 with Ladbrokes Sunday quaddie tips – Forbes Cup Day 2023 Forbes quadrella selections Sunday, August 6, 2023 3-4-5-9-11-12 2-5 2-10 1-2-6-9 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
