Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 9, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 9, 2023 What Ipswich Races Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304 When Friday, August 11, 2023 First Race 12:37pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Ipswich Turf Club will host a competitive eight-race card this Friday afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 5, but with no rain on the forecast for Thursday or Friday, we should be racing on a Good 4 for the entire meeting. The rail will be in the +8m position for the whole circuit, with racing set to kick off at 12:37pm AEST. Best Bet at Ipswich – Shalaa’s Moment The Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted-trained Shalaa’s Moment drops back to 800m on Friday, which will suit her much better after she failed to run out a strong 1100m last start. The four-year-old mare has two wins from five starts for her career, with both coming over the short-course distances of 800m and 900m. This race appears to have a lot of speed, so if Ben Thompson can settle this girl just behind the speed from barrier four and get her into clear air before the turn, we should see her return to the winner’s circle. Best Bet Race 1 – #5 Shalaa’s Moment (4) 4yo Mare | T: Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted | J: Ben Thompson (55.5kg) Bet with Neds Next Best at Ipswich – Mission To Win Mission To Win was a bit unlucky last start when he finished second behind the speedy Thankful Heart over 1200m at this track on July 28. This four-year-old gelding was made to travel three and four wide for the entire trip before pulling to the outside on the home turn. He chased hard in the final 200m, but the leader had put too big a margin on the rest of the field, so he was never going to run him down. Stepping up to 1400m is a positive for this son of Toronado, and if he can get a similar run to last start but not travel three wide, Mission To Win will look the winner at some stage in the final 300m. Next Best Race 3 – #4 Mission To Win (6) 4yo Gelding | T: Toby & Trent Edmonds | J: Martin Harley (58kg) Bet with Bet365 Best Value at Ipswich – Where Ya Bean After just missing out on the win last start, Where Ya Bean from the Shaun Dwyer yard will step up from 1350m to 1700m at his second start this preparation. This son of Spill The Beans was very good first-up, where he settled mid-field and made his move at the 600m mark to find room on the outside of runners. Once this gelding made his move, he let down nicely with a strong finishing burst, suggesting the extra distance is needed second-up. Mark Du Plessis will be legged aboard, and if he can settle in the one-one position behind the leaders, this guy can play a prominent role in the finish. Best Value Race 5 – #6 Where Ya Bean (6) 4yo Gelding | T: Shaun Dwyer | J: Mark Du Plessis (54kg) Bet with Boombet Friday quaddie picks for Ipswich Ipswich quadrella selections Friday, August 11, 2023 1-2-4-6 1-3-5-9 1-7-8-10-11 3-4-6-12 Investment: $320 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
