Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 10, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 10, 2023 What Morphettville Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Saturday, August 12, 2023 First Race 12:07pm ACST Visit Ladbrokes Feature racing returns to Morphettville on Saturday afternoon, where the Group 3 Behemoth Stakes (1200m) headlines a nine-race program. Showers are forecast for the weekend, and as the track was already rated a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, it is unlikely we will be racing on anything firmer. The rail comes out 5m the entire circuit, with the action commencing at 12:07pm ACST. Behemoth Stakes Top Tip: Exploring Savatoxl is a Group 1 winner at this track and trip, saluting in the 2021 edition of The Goodwood, and will look to add a third win to his name at the Morphettville 1200m. He was a good thing beaten last time out at Darwin, and his win three races back suggests he should be hard to run down. Caitlin Jones will get an uncontested lead on Savatoxl, and if he gets his own way out in front with a cheap sectional, he should catch his rivals napping in the Behemoth Stakes. Behemoth Stakes Race 8 – #1 Savatoxl (6) 8yo Gelding | T: Will Savage | J: Caitlin Jones (58.5kg) $3.40 with Boombet Best Bet at Morphettville: Surprise Coming Surprise Coming was an impressive first-up maiden winner at Gawler two runs back and backed it up with a dominant performance when saluting at the Morphettville 1200m. He returns to that track and trip on Saturday, and despite going up 2kg initially, Ben Price’s 1.5kg claim gets him in perfectly at the weights. He put 3.2 lengths on his rivals last time out, and with a cosy run in transit expected, the three-year-old gelding should prove too good once again. Best Bet Race 1 – #1 Surprise Coming (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Kylie Schulz | J: Ben Price (a1.5) (60kg) $2.50 with Bet365 Next Best at Morphettville: Sixteen Reasons It is hard to ignore the run Sixteen Reasons produced in the Listed Lightning Stakes last time out, and a repeat effort of that should be good enough in BM70 grade. Having just come off a Gawler maiden victory, the four-year-old mare finished just off the placegetters when doing her best work late over the 1050m. The step up to 1200m should suit her perfectly, and with a bit of early speed engaged, the race looks perfectly set up for Sixteen Reasons to blouse her rivals from a handy draw. Next Best Race 6 – #7 Sixteen Reasons (3) 4yo Mare | T: Will Clarken & Nikki O’Shea | J: Ben Price (a1.5) (54kg) $2.70 with PlayUp Best Value at Morphettville: Seven Secrets The Andrew Gluyas-trained Seven Secrets has won two of his last four starts in weaker company but is hard to go past in BM64 grade on his return to city racing. The four-year-old gelding settles close to the speed, so from barrier 12 we expect Jason Holder to have him outside lead or in the one-one. With speed drawn underneath, Holder will need to be at his best, but with even luck Seven Secrets looks to a great value play with online bookmakers. Best Value Race 9 – #4 Seven Secrets (12) 4yo Gelding | T: Andrew Gluyas | J: Jason Holder (59kg) $10 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Morphettville Morphettville quadrella selections Saturday, August 12, 2023 4-7 1-2-9-10 1-10-11 2-3-4-11 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
