  1. Well they need to find capital from somewhere to fix Trentham. In my opinion that is a sink hole. Few realise that if it wasn't for substantial interest free capital lent by the local councils to the Wellington Stadium Trust that venue would run at a loss. So given the number of events held at that venue how do they expect Trentham that holds 12 race meetings a year (no trials, no jumpouts, no horse training revenue) and limited non-racing facilities for functions expect to make a profit?
  2. Technically it's fair to say Masterton Racing Club does have a track that being the training centre at the old Opaki course. Which produced a multiple Oaks winner recently - Pennyweka.
  3. They might have a better chance of getting through a race meeting if they held their meeting at Awapunit run by RACE.
  4. Well do you realise where they are trying to find the capital to fix Trentham?
  5. Geez I took you for a St Thomas's man.
  6. Yeah and we wonder where the money is coming from to fix Trentham!
  7. How would the CEO know? As only been there five mintues. Must be Balcombe advising him.
  8. Please post any more information you get. Things are bad enough in the South Island!
  9. Yeah. It's as if the Club may have access and posts and then someone re-edits.
  10. Meeting News Riccarton Park Synthetic Trials Cancelled Please note that due to insuffcient entries Riccarton Park Synthetic Trials Wednesday 23 April have been cancelled.
  11. All good I'll "indirectly" reprimand someone. I've already given Mikey a warning about language.
  12. That's pure gold @TAB For Ever - did your trainer not get the memo?
  13. I don't have a problem with awards for outstanding contributions to racing however the random plethora of such rewards are diminishing their effect. As well some of the nominees tend to make a mockery of some awards. For example how does a Club that doesn't own a racecourse and has 3 meetings abandoned in 5 years make the finalists ahead of many worthy Clubs?
  14. I'll "indirectly" reprimand @Special Agent
  15. Not only is that incorrect but you seem very adept at doing what you describe except you seem to spray tags at random and in volume whenever the facts are put in front of you.
  16. So I gather you had the operations so you could go unnoticed in the North?
  17. Are you well? It's a good thing you left the South Island as going by your current mental state you'd probably be joing that list. Of course you now live in Auckland where there is a murder at least once a week.
  18. No because it is a track that horses get their hooves into it. Most of our tracks are like that. It is in the early spring and early autumn where issues with slipping occur. Where the weather goes from dry to wet and back again. There'd be no slipping at Waverley today - just tired horses.
  19. Which is exactly what I've been saying. If you listen to the Jockeys after a race in those conditions you hear that the horses look after themselves and hold back.
  20. This was the profile before they raced on it.
  21. Really? Who would have thought.
  22. They put 90 tonnes after the first abandoned meeting then when the next meeting was abandoned they put on another 900 tonnes. That of course doesn't count the original 12,000 tonnes.
  23. Yes I've been arguing that for months now much to the derision of some. Why aren't they using a Going Stick at Ellerslie and publishing the results? As for the AWT's I've never understood why they take the lazy option and don't measure the firmness and shear of the synthetics and publish those. At the very least it would give track managers some data to show what works and what doesn't. Ellerslie behaves like a AWT NOT a traditional turf track or for that matter a standard Strathayr. Wilcox has as good as admitted that in press releases.
  24. Logic would say so. Looking at @JMO 's photos the kickback must be really high. I liken it to being on the beach and someone kicks sand in your face. It isn't a very enjoyable experience and given the sensitivity of horses eyes I imagine they don't enjoy it either.
  25. Yes I've heard that as well. Which when you think of the mechanics of an equine gallop - the slide helps dissipate a lot of forces with the front legs and the scoop gives them a purchase to push forward. Mind you I might have that all wrong. But I have heard the shear part of the stride is important. Excuse any misuse of terminology.
