  1. Apparently the TAB had their Christmas do last night at a dodgy bar down at the Viaduct. Explains things being slow today.
  2. Doesn't that mean they have no confidence in the book they first set? I've long felt that the TAB has a Government Department mentality which doesn't work in a highly competitive market. Suggest they all spend a month working in the horticulture industry over Christmas then they'll know about what work really is! What's the bet we will see a notice come out about NZRB and NZTR reduced office hours over the festive season.
  3. At $7 would it have been of value?
  4. Yes the Guineas races should have their stakes slashed. South Island and 3 yr olds before Christmas.
  5. I was there that night. I think Reon said something about the Red Sea parting!
  6. Closing tracks and building a mega track isn't going to improve the quality. FFS - NZTR CHANGE THE TIER STAKES MODEL TO A FLATTER ONE! FEED THE GRASSROOTS!!!! (should do that with the tracks as well!). Don't run Grp 3 and Grp 2 races for R85's at $100k and $200k!!! CHANGE THE HANDICAPPING MODEL FFS! Let the good consistent long lived geldings keep on racing!!!! Base the point ratings on merit not some computer model on a spreadsheet! It's not as if the handicapper has a lot of horses to review weekly!!!!!

  18. They have either fixed it or Chrome doesn't throw the same error.
  19. The fields for the Manawatu Racing Clubs meeting at Awapuni on Saturday 22 December are a reflection of what is wrong with NZ Racing. Has anyone seen a poorer field for the Grp 3 Manawatu Cup? An average rating of R83 for a Grp 3 $100,000 race! I compare the similar rated races at Awapuni vs yesterday at Ruakaka and the theory that the better horses race on Premier Days doesn't hold water. The rest of the fields are weaker than Ruakaka yet they raced for $10k yesterday vs $25k this Saturday.

  24. Fair dinkum - under your system an R85 horse turns up in an Open race on a "Premier Day" in the North Island and wins. The average rating for the Open is R92 and R88 runs second but the horse gets hammered in terms of Rating Points. Should have raced in the South Island (easier win apparently) in an Open that has an average of R98 on a non "Premier Day" and got less points - supposedly!
  25. Geez Mardi that will involve knowledge, skill and WORK!
