  6. No. There is no positive contamination. There is tests being run, on non greyhounds, domiciled on the same property, for an unknown issue, of which Parvo is amongst the tests being looked at
  7. Aldolase is an enzyme found especially in the liver and skeletal muscles. When the liver or muscles are damaged, the cells release their contents (including aldolase) into the bloodstream. Since muscle weakness can be caused by problems with either the nerves or the muscles, this test identifies weakness caused by muscular problems. Creatine Kinase (also known as CK, or Creatine Phosphokinase [CPK]) is an important diagnostic blood test for myopathies. CK is a type of protein called an enzyme that is especially active in skeletal muscle, heart tissue, and the brain. When muscle tissue is damaged, the cells release their contents into the bloodstream, causing elevated CK levels in the blood Sedimentation Rate (also called erythrocyte sedimentation rate [ESR] or sed rate) measures swelling and inflammation of the muscles. Doctors use the sed rate to watch the progress of the muscle inflammation. This test is not specific to a particular disease but simply identifies the presence and severity of the inflammation.
  8. Dog was lost at the after hours clinic early hours of the morning. Pretty easy to forget you had nommed the dog the day before when going through a shock loss.

  17. It wasnt allowed last year when I had an above all to race in it
  18. You guys can change your horrible attitudes easier than someone can change their voice.
  19. I can't quote you sorry. But I research what I can prior to using a stud dog. Yes I follow up on as many dogs I have bred post racing over their lives as I can, including medical history, not of all dogs as due to the way gap works we cannot be given the new owners contact but they are given ours.
  20. As the owner of two studs and broods, I contacted the vets studying this, as well as the canine geneticists. Both said it wasnt genetic and even if I ran the tests it wouldn't be an accurate result. The genetic version is called PRA, progressive retinal atrophy, which many vets are diagnosing this as, as this is common in other breeds. This greyhound version I believe is called degenerative retinal atrophy, which is very difference and trauma related not genetic
  21. No its effecting dogs younger than trial age
  22. This is not a genetic version of blindness.. hence the research into it
  23. This quote is accusing a lot of people of giving steroids to their dogs. Including myself...
  24. It's not identified as being in the CD. Nz's top canine eye specialist is CD based hence the investigation is beginning there
  25. Would you guys get over the Cole situation and making out like hes the only thing happening in the industry. This eye issue is a big concern. No it's not just CD based but that is where the study is being conducted. There is interested parties following this all over the country and it has been looked at for the last year nationwide by smaller parties as it has the potential to heavily affect racing and rehoming of future dogs
