  1. Think we need some kind of owner and trainers petition indicating a vote of no confidence in our CEO and Board. Deliver it to Winston and make a fuss of the fact that grassroots people in this sport have had enough of being cheated and misrepresented.
  2. Now I wonder why... well not really it's pretty obvious 1. Rendle with his fingers in too many pies. 2. The dominance and reliance on the puppy farming model to supply dogs for an ever increasing number of race dates. Emboldened them to treat rules with contempt while they knew how heavily they were relied on to provide dogs. I think this is fundamental reason things were different in OZ, there are no trainers with that kind of numbers so rubbing them out had marginal consequences on fields. 3.General apathy of GRNZ/RIU and pencil pushes in those roles. Previous CEO had plenty of warnings about where the sport was headed and feels to me like we have had a procession of people in association who have little desire get their hands dirty.
  3. So 2 years on and grnz is still putting integrity of the sport in the hands of the spca who clealry have been under-resourced to investigate this matter in a timely manner. RIU should have funded a thorough investigation in conjunction with spca if needs be 2 years ago and had this to the point of charges being laid at least 18 months ago. All that money since been funding Cole/Rendle and the bigtime machine that could have found it's way to honest participants. Pathetic, now you want to minimize impact on entire industry.. bit late for that.
  4. I don't know what legal advice association are getting but if they were even the slightest bit interested in protecting the integrity of the sport, Cole personally and the kennel should be instantly suspended and licenses revoked pending court case. If this was any small time trainer we wouldn't even be having this conversation, they would have been outed 2 years ago and rightly so. When the four corners story hit in OZ trainers were put out instantly no matter how big the name, Darren MacDonald, Reg Kay etc. I couldn't care less if the fields are decimated in the CD for a few weeks, the future of the sport is much more important. GRNZ owe all the hardworking participants a full and honest explanation of how and why we are in the position we find ourselves today, right back to when Rendle entered the scene lining his own pockets at industry's expense. Until such time the current board and CEO have absolutely no credibility.
  5. Race 5, 8.24pm local time. https://www.thedogs.com.au/Racing/RacingFormFields.aspx?meetid=246196
  6. Interesting runner in heats of Association Cup at Wenty over 700m on the back of blistering win at Albion Park not far outside Tornado Tears' track record first up over 700. Certainly has the motor to compete just hope to see him land on the speed. Very tough field including Tornado Tears, Little Digger and the queen of Wenty at the moment Poco Dorado.
  7. Can't say for certain but I would say it was highly unlikely in most cases.. the cost equation for the Dyna Dave's, Dyna Elwyn's etc that are ready made group dogs is probably still worthwhile if they have no other viable option in Australia but for the vast majority of the others probably not. I am sure there are quite a few of them that would race successfully in Australia if they had stayed, the ones with tickets and poor chasing habits probably not. Not all the Wheeler dogs have tickets, some are just better suited to NZ racing because they perhaps lack a bit of early pace and are strong, or they can't run a hard 500m etc.
  8. I think Paul may have but most are in Brendan's name these days I think.
  9. Your going to have a problem filling fields, hard to see people like Wheelers sending many more unless Craig wants to foot the bill for it. Same for imports in the sub 5k bracket. Ultimately NZ will have to breed 90% or more of it's own dogs. Are we going to rely on dog farmers to do this, the same ones who aren't held accountable for where the dogs go when finished..? Hard to know exactly but I'd guess NZ would need to breed probably 15-20 dogs for every 10 imports missing from racing population. Ultimately for the same racing population you will have a larger overall population draining into gap. Nothing against clamping down on importing fighters and nonnies, long overdue but there will be unintended consequences of the policy in the medium to long term. Not to mention breeding line development in decades to come.
  10. Yi Feng gets a ticket in the first for what looks very hard to spot at the bend, then clearly marrs after the line. Max Dancer lunges out, mouth wide open and gets nothing. Hmm..
  11. Very surprised to see Max Dancer not get a ticket tonight, completely free of interference clearly ran off and failed to pursue the lure when lining up the 2 dog for a chat.
  12. What was the old rule 14 months? Was quite regular then to see pups qualified at 13 months in time for debut at 14 months.. This issue has been debated plenty of times over the years, always someone ready to say if the dog is ready to race then it should be able to, blah blah no matter how poorly they perform. Will always have some fabled story of such and such a dog that started at young age and had a long and successful career as some kind of justification for pure greed of putting most of these dogs around at least 3-4 months before they should.

Great to see, maybe the Meadows is her track as opposed to Sandown. Drop in class and nice draw clearly helped but she really chased hard, no doubt she has the motor to compete with the best..

Certainly not her best effort, like to have seen her race near the lead but after she found trouble didn't look like being in the contest. Generally much harder to lead staying races in OZ than at home which makes it hard to adjust if your used to essentially solo trialling for large parts of races in NZ.

Lining up in the first heat of the Bold Trease tonight, looks a winnable race. Blue Moon Rising likely leader but if she can track him through the first 600m she should go very close. Ebby Ripper will be charging home late. Some super racing at Sandown with Melbourne cup heats as well.
