  1. Brodie simple, most non-metro meetings funded $10,500, $11,500 or $12,500 per race depending on meet status plus meeting operating costs. Club can re-arrange stakes funding as it sees fit, provided that over the season 100% is paid as stakes. Enjoy an historic grass track meeting on what some experts are saying in the best surface in the country.
  2. Hey guys, this is the Palmy Festival of Racing Weekend. Sadly, Awapuni is racing at Trentham with the Gold Cup and Sires Produce. MHRC asked for the date for its Palmerston North Festival Cup and HRNZ happily obliged. 4.50pm start due to Trackside commitments during the day. Result supporting local initiative and racing in the CD with 7 races and 61 horses. Tuesday 73 noms.
  3. I sat on this committee for a decade. Criteria was virtually non-existent. Generally, in times past the Cup or Dominion winner dam had an inside run. There was only one award. Now one for each gait. These days is more about impact/quality in the season from the dam/her family, rather than volume of wins. You can see the 2020/21 season nominees on page 83 of The Breeders Sept 21 Breeding Matters, www.thebreeders.co.nz , the middle Breeding Matters on the website front page. Career broodmare Excellence is recognised annually by The Breeders with this year's winners at pages 88 (Spendid Dreams) and 89 (Chiola's Lass) of the January 22 Breeding Matters also on the website, left-hand link, also with the Flowpaper page reader.
