  1. Theyve been nailed by people attacking non-deduction fixed odds trifectas too. Over a month ago I saw punters climb into a Mooney Valley race on the Saturday. Three of the runners started the night before so were a no show for Saturday. Taking a healthy boxed tri on the 5 horses left over (and the two favs were involved in the scratchings) meant that punters were going to make ample returns no matter what the result. Another group did straight win bets with the 5 runners, moderating their punts to the order of favouritism for each horse (ie: piling more on the lower divvy horses, less on the outsiders, etc). They cleaned up.
  2. Great. Another way to screw us over.
  3. Good on Brian!
  4. More BS from the resident idiot. Have a day off would ya?
  5. For once I actually agree with you. Why do we have to put up with this crap?
  6. Where is this to read in detail?
  7. An outstanding interview (take note Trackside!). Could listen to Freedman for hours. Glad he brought up that they had a heap in their stable in their prime, but he is right - the big trainers are too big. And its wrong because no one can give 500 plus horses the correct attention.
  8. It was totally ignored by commentator and presenter after the race and when they did rave about it, it was done with a huge sense of shock or surprise. They thought it came out of nowhere when actually it sat behind/with the leader from the 1400m. That was basically the only horse it passed down the straight. Solid but not amazing. Trackside presenters often issue praise so incorrectly I feel. Almost patronising at times.
  9. I had my biggest bet of the week on it. A real fan of the horse. Great lead up runs and must have been highly rated when it was younger with some of the races it was entered in. The more it drifted the more I put on and I wasnt surprised it was fighting it out at the finish. And the trainer has won a Wellington Cup too!
  10. The baloney certain presenters speak is incredible. Innes would be great around a better team. The Te Akau bias is sickening. As for the NZ Cup summation they raved about Canheroc running 3rd. It had the run of the race and basically didnt go past anything in the straight! The way they rabbited on you'd think it had done a "Kiwi" in '83. Head-ons are so vital - they actually need to go right back to the bend on all tracks!
  11. Its all a bit of a joke. Look at the reason why Kopua was scratched today. Severe rerating and then you arent allowed an apprentice on to boot! The one remarkable thing is that Aljay won the NZ Cup in a time of 3.22 two years ago. Then runs 6th(?) in 3.25 last year with more weight, and 8th today (5.7L off them) in 3.27 carrying a massive 60kg in "testing ground". Basically the poor horse is still turning up with the same performance but getting in a situation where it cant win because of the handicapper. Why bother turning up? (unless you are there for the "also ran stakes"). No wonder Roger James took his stayer to Newcastle today.
  12. The Scunner wins R5. We are told 3 of the presenters were told it would win........did they pass it on? No. Standard. Then we get George Simon "close-ups" as his horse wins the last at Tauranga.
  13. One segment hes trying to think hes funny eating an icecream. The next time hes being a buffoon on a rocking horse. What the #$%& has our sports coverage become in NZ? Im embarrassed. And hes the same on SENZ radio. Most of the time if I switch on theyre talking about pies or how to do a roast! Stephen Donald tried tipping a draw in the first cricket test in Sri Lanka. The venue had seen outright win results in the last 28 tests!!!!
  14. Sure was a great stand that. You dont know what youve got until its gone!
  15. Looked a great surface and fair for everyone. Must get there one day.
  16. The caretaker spoke to a trainer early Saturday morning and said the outside was very heavy.
  17. Dee is a class act.
  18. He also wrote off the chances of his other runner Mohaka and it ran third!!!! Tell me how you can overlook that?! Hardly a mention anywhere post race which says a lot about the RIU's ability.
  19. Great win by this horse on Saturday at Hastings. Even more remarkable after the trainer said it had no show pre-race. Anyone hear his comments? Seemed to get forgotten about quick smart by the Trackside team.
  20. Might be karma for the way she treats some of her fellow female jockeys off the track.
  21. If they could get a word in on TV or radio they probably would. How about you share some of the limelight.
