  1. Oh and the typo is cut and pasted from the NZTR job ad. They don't have many that can proof read or use a spell checker there.
  2. Will be when they get a race date!
  3. The Central Districts Club Hub is a standalone not-for-profit that provides vital operational services to 11 thoroughbred racecourses in the lower North Island. The Hub owns shared raceday infrastructure and employs a number of staff who travel around the region on behalf of 16 well-stablished racing clubs.
  4. Targeted and won a couple of those back when 5k was well, 5k.
  5. Had a couple of goes but dropped my whip the first time and lost my balance leaving the gates the next. Got the sack.
  6. You've got to get them in the game before you worry about keeping them in it?
  7. revision of the Famis bonus scheme from the 90s? Never have contributed much to wagering revenue as far as I can see. Hardly any sort of new initiative.
  8. That was King George's fault wasn't it?
  9. How or where did I infer that?
  10. That's the problem. It's not. It's based on and adds to the precedent. It's insufficient, and can only be fixed by NZTR issuing revised penalty guidelines for these cases that are more in keeping with the damage they cause to participation, wagering and the public image of racing. I wonder how the hundreds of punters who backed Churchillian and lost their bet are feeling now.
  11. Of course and I haven't had a horse in work for 2 years, but I'm a licence holder and have a duty to stay up to date. Actually, I was alerted to updates almost a year ago by a post you made on here: https://bitofayarn.com/topic/94287-nzeva-prohibited-substance-recommended-withholding-times/
  12. Either way, that amounts to negligence imo. The information that Grierson supplied is available to all and it's implausible to me that experienced trainers and vets would not be aware of it.
  13. Well that's not what the NZVA guidlines say. They say after 12 iv doses, detection time is 3 days, so you'd have to take that up with Grierson if you think it's so far wrong.
  14. No. It's the established International Screening Limit (ISL). “The International Screening Limit (ISL) is the urine or plasma concentration adopted for the screening of a specified therapeutic prohibited substance; it is derived from administration studies followed by a risk analysis consisting of two components: a risk assessment (evaluation of the effect of the substance and factors related to its control) and a risk management (decision step for harmonisation).
  15. Yes, and the treating veterinarian should have passed on that advice when prescribing the medication though it's very surprising that trainers of their experience would not be aware of the necessary precautions. It is also strange that the case hasn't prompted Grierson and the NZEVA to add the detection time for oral and possibly transdermal flunixin to their recommended witholding times guide.
  16. Except this is supposedly not the treated horse and that applies to bedding contamination from excreted material, not rubbing noses or other transdermal transfer.
  17. No they didn't. That is for their May race days isn't it?
  18. Eh? This isn't cobalt. It's an anti-inflammatory. Way different story however unlikely it sounds.
  19. There's a bit of cross purpose when we are trying to retain our best 3yos to race in NZ more but the highest rated ones have to race overseas to valdate their rating for pattern race standards.
  20. From the 2023 report: The NZPC’s concerns with the WBRR ratings assigned to NZ 3yo races escalated during the 2022/23 season. NZ-derived ratings for horses rated >112 are subject to moderation by the APC handicappers. The NZPC holds significant concerns regarding this process. The 2022/23 crop of 3yo’s enjoyed unprecedented success and was regarded as the best in many years by experts across Australia and NZ. Conversely, NZ 6 3yo races in 2022/23 were moderated by APC handicappers to rate at their lowest level in some years. As a starting point, NZ 3yo ratings are at the bottom end of global norms unless the horse performs well overseas in the same season. Further, many NZ horses that race overseas achieve markedly higher ratings as older horses, clearly suggesting their earlier 3yo rating was unduly conservative. Examples abound. The WBRR Race Ratings used to evaluate race quality are appended as Section 6 of this Report. The NZPC decided to formalise a NZ Rating Review panel comprising the NZ Handicapper, a race ratings expert from the NZPC and one from outside the NZPC. This panel will assist in the assessment of WBRR ratings for NZ horses.
  21. Probably right given the Pattern Committee themselves are questioning the WBBR ratings of our 3yos.
  22. Read the rules then. https://nztr.co.nz/sites/nztrindustry/files/2023-05/STANDARDTRAININGAGREEMENT.pdf NZTR TRAINING AGREEMENT, NZTR CO-OWNER AGREEMENT AND NZTR LEASE AGREEMENT 1502 (1) The NZTR Training Agreement is deemed to apply between the Trainer and Owner of each horse (except Exempt Trainers and Exempt Owners), and such parties must comply with the agreement, subject to sub-Rule 1502(2).
  23. What? All owners and trainers have a training agreement don't they? It is pretty clear to me.
  24. Ask Longines. I'm just the messenger.
