Sweet Lou Quinella too. Bankers Gold 2nd. What a nice run by Bankers Gold, see him flash out wide around that Camb corner. Nearly a penalty free win for connections too, as they had a Jnr on Bankers Gold. Got my multi had Thee Old Bomb yess. So no Karrott rage. Only a small bet, but fun nevertheless. You Gamms the trouble maker lol. Planting potential seeds in Karrots head lol. Oh my. I never thought Id see the day. That is why it's so funny. Sweet Gamms lol.

Trotting Rule- When do you get disqualified for galloping??
Karrots replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Hey Brods, Yeah, you saw my last post on Camb 🙈 Yeah, as I said I was pleased it didn't get disqualified for selfish reasons, as I wanted it to be cleared, due to it being on my fun BOAY selections, also as it was 2-5 starts ish ago at Alex in the last also. I remember @thegalah started a threat called Call Me Trouble, as he felt the horse should Not of been disqualified and it took approx 45 mins for Alex Stripes to come to that conclusion. It was a bit controversial that disqualification. Anyway last nite while watching with a friend & it galloped & I said "oh no, thats the 1 Im watching", then blow me down, it caught the field, then I think in straight got ahead, then got headed, then come back on the line. Popular nice win. And they got the penalty free win as had Jnr on. We both thought it was over for the horse, as both said - hmm we think it likely galloped more than the allowed 100 metres. But lets wait and see, as the camera angle we have been shown so far, you can't see the horse gallop, so there is not enough evidence it actually did, even if it looked like it might of. Friend said, "but that they may have more angles than what was shown". Checked results later, and it was official got the win. So suspect without full evidence that was the reason. Then followed thru with adding up our BOAY selections with Call Me Trouble getting the win. Feel free to debate or disagree with me anyone. Im not sure on this. Just saying what I/we saw. -
Wonder who won the Camb facebook comp free bet. I got a friend to enter for me & we would split the winnings if drawn as Im not on social media. Usually they announce winners on their Facebook page, but nada up yet. My friend kept asking me, as we were on the winner Copy That. Regardless if we were drawn or not, hope they say who won the prize on their Facebook page. Would encourage me to participate again and to advise others on here. @the galah how good was it that Call Me Trouble was not disqualified again in the last. Lost 10 lengths ish at start breaking, then got up to win just. Then of course the siren went off & I thought or no, not again for the poor horse & its connections. But yesss, it was officially announced winner, which on another note - gave me enough points to draw 1st equal in our selections comp with @Romanaka Peck & @Milo the dark horse (I think the 1 to watch) - coming in strong and competitive from the dogs chat. Watch out us.

The poster due to this sites comments on the issue - stating something like after reading this sites posts on issue. They were saying we are all a bit crazy etc, in our own world over here. I suppose thinking about it if you aren't posting here, then maybe we do could come across to some as crazy. I mean now I have discovered the Gifs, maybe that is odd to read. Its fun when you are posting tho. I love it. Hmm maybe Karrotts needs to ton down the Gifs. Anyway its good that they have addressed it to clear it up. Good and clear communication is key. Stops speculation.

Hey Gamms, I just read on other site, someone that looks like is or was connected to AS stable has said the colours will change to new colours for Cullen at the beginning of the new season. Great. That is clarity if correct. Of course they have to understand that some of us that had been excited for him, and also said, he seems like a nice likeable man, were a bit puzzled to see him not get his first night in the spotlight. That along with the same colours & some contradictions created some confusion. Good it has kind of been addressed. So being genuine, good luck to him I say moving forward. Will be interesting to see how he goes. Wait Iv said all that before. Oh well rinse and repeat.

Yip agree. Me too re-watched again to answer my own question poor drive or out-driven. She had the opportunity to move when Banker moved. Will be interesting to see if Italian Lad, Spankem if any abnormalities come back as they getting blood tests re Stripes report. On another note, was funny reading the owner of Copy Thats comments in latest Lincoln Farms article. He certainly didn't mince his words chuckles. In Melbourne Butterworth, while very pleased at the dominance of the win, was not getting too excited. “We shouldn’t get carried away. It was a small track, he was in front, the others were out the back and Maurice controlled the race. “I suppose that’s all he had to do and it’s nice to get the win after all the bad luck we've had and the team driving against us.” https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/copy-that-all-the-way-in-1-53.2-demolition-but-miracle-mile-looking-increasingly-unlikely/

That Italian Lad race. I had Jack Tar as my selections horse so was watching it. They ran an opening slick 40.2 I think the commentator said, that is burning hard. Thats fast lead up for Camb. I thought ok those back fav's need to get on their bikes, but they didn't. Said to the person watching with me, umm they are leaving it too late, or are they just running along too fast up front for them to make a move? Just checked time and it was a slick MR1.56.3 for Camb - Chilcott ran them along and just missed the win by a 1/2 head. The winner came off her back from the trail. Was it a bad drive on those favourites or did the driver on leader out smart them and never let them into it? Still could of tried to make a move I suppose.

Say it Gamms, say it Cambridge Corners - I win our lil bet so brief bragging rights 😁 Copy That 😁 Late to the party here, as just had to check my account and see my winnings 😁

Milo, myself and Knight are out in front after race 1, on 2 points each. Still 12 races, a long way to go. @Gammalite I nominate you to chose the next selections date, your choice of venue and date in 7-14 days 😁 Then you just add up the points, encourage people to join in & also take over the yapping at Chief to get onto prizes for us 😁 I have done a mock letter that @Chief Stipe you could use as a template. Our popular racing platform forum is running a competition. It is a fun selections competition. Our forum consists of many owners, punters, ex trainers, current drivers, current trainers, experts, harness enthusiasts … Our platforms traffic is this …. We have advertisers as this … (any other benefits insert here ...) Would you entertain the idea of either sponsoring a prize or a prize in exchange for advertising. This could be done either directly or non-directly? 1 of our posters has on numerous occasions mentioned 1 of your stallions Sweet Lou and posted how well he is doing. This raises awareness. This could be a particular good way forward as an option for 1 of your newer stallions. While no-one can control the narrative of the forum, I'm sure many of the posters that participate in the competition would be appreciative of any prizes if put up. Yes that was my point, a number of contradictions 😉 And lets not forget new name but not new colours. Thinking further about the change in price fee, would be natural anyway, once such an announcement is made, one could not charge or been seen to charge at the same price. I don't know, it is all interesting. Will be interesting to watch this space and see what happens moving forward and lets remember, M Purdons plans to go to Aus and campaign some horses has not gone ahead due to Covid.

It is interesting. Here is public made info, I have taken some snippets from that letter that was sent to owners. Our sabbatical will commence on 1st January 2021 Mark will also be undertaking a mentoring role to Hayden We both have made the decision to take a career break whilst we take time to rest and rejuvenate They will be training and racing horses under their own name, Cullen Racing Stables Cullen Racing Stables will continue the same high-quality training and care of your horses but will have a different daily training rate

Wow Gamms big call coming from you. I say that as 99% of the time everything is all peaches and roses, so for you to say that, is quite the big call. Seems like you have rage lol. (Its just my fun word I use when grumpy or whatever). Here is a question for you Gamms - I remember seeing in letter that was sent to owners, there would be a different training fee, so factor that in, to your assessment ... Thoughts on that? Another thing l recall reading the words "rest and rejuvenate" in same letter. Interesting re not normal to keep same colours. That was what I suspected, but didn't know for sure.
-
When you put it that way it is an interesting question. Something I didn't understand was why the same colours when the trainer completely changed? Maybe it normal, I don't know or maybe to psych-out opposition. Who knows. Had never heard of Cullen prior take-over thing but have instantly warmed to him after reading article. Seems like a likeable nice man. Very exciting for him.

Racing: No dream homecoming for Hayden Cullen at Cambridge in start of a new era for stable 7 Jan, 2021 08:05 PM Spankem raced in the Auckland Cup eight days ago so would have taken little work. Photo / Trish Dunell NZ Herald By: Michael Guerin Hayden Cullen's dream homecoming at Cambridge tomorrow night is being dampened by one small detail: he won't be there. The man taking over Australasia's most powerful harness racing stable is learning the realities of what that means — work always comes first. Cullen is now the trainer for almost all the horses which until last week were part of Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen's All Stars brand, with the pair taking a sabbatical from training. The 36-year-old now runs the most powerful stable in the industry even though to casual punters it will look much the same tomorrow night, with Cullen also taking over Purdon's famous colours and Purdon and Rasmussen both driving. But this is Cullen's team now and he has been in the north working them this week. Until today. "I have had to come back to Christchurch to work the babies because they are at an important stage and we need to look forward with them," he tells the Herald. "So while I looked after the horses up there this week, I won't be going to Cambridge. That is a little bit of a shame because it is my home track and I'd love to have been there but this is my job now, I have to look after the whole team and delegate staff to be where I can't." Cullen says it was a surreal feeling to see his name in the form guides next to Self Assured and Spankem. "This isn't usually how it usually works. When you start training it is often with a few maidens and unraced horses, not New Zealand Cup and Miracle Mile winners. I don't think it has sunk in yet and I don't think it will for a few weeks." So what does all this mean for punters? It would be unrealistic to think Cullen, or anybody else, could maintain the standards Purdon and Rasmussen have set so some horses might eventually see a dip in performance. But there is no proof of that yet and if things change that should take a while to show up. Cullen is a young man taking on a massive job and while he has been trained by the best as their foreman, he is still going to learn as he goes. But the reality is Spankem and Ashley Locaz raced in the Auckland Cup only eight days ago so would have taken little work this week leading into a mile race, while Cullen says he is happy with Self Assured, who hasn't raced since winning the New Zealand Cup because of a corn. "I worked him on Wednesday and he worked well," he says. "He is not carrying any extra weight and is ready to go but the draws make it tough for all of ours because it looks like Copy That will lead and that will make him very hard to beat." The Flying Mile at Cambridge being what it is, with leaders so hard to catch at this level, Cullen's debut with three of New Zealand's best pacers could well end in defeat because the best version of Copy That might be unbeatable in front. But Cullen should get his first solo training victory — he has 62 in partnership with Brent Mangos between 2011 and 2014 — with Italian Lad (R8, No 11). "He has worked well and is fitter for his last start so he will be hard to beat." If he is right Cullen and his wife Amanda, who will help run the stable, can raise a glass for their first win in a unique chapter of New Zealand racing. And then tomorrow get straight back to work.

Sad News: Tragic drowning of Harness Trainer - Revell Douglas
Karrots replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Locksmith back from the brink 27 February 2020 , Punters Info By Garrick Knight It’s unlikely that Thursday's Stratford grass meeting means more to anyone than visiting trainer Revell Douglas. The South Auckland horseman has taken his entire race team south for the two-day grass meeting that starts at Te Kapua Park and finishes at New Plymouth on Saturday. It’s just the two horses, one of which is Revving, who was a story in herself when she resumed to win fresh-up after 875 days and having a foal at Rotorua last month. But her yarn will pale in comparison to that of stablemate Locksmith, should he win on either of the two days. Douglas takes up the story. “After his race on May 31 last year, where he ended up going four and five wide, I got him back to Adrienne Matthews’ stables, where I am based, at about 11 o’clock at night. “It was a windy night and I couldn’t find the feed bowls, so he started tearing around his paddock. “I heard a smash but thought it must have been the wind. I just figured I was hearing things. “But I decided to walk out and have a look and there he was, this 17-hands high horse, lying on his back in half a metre of water in an old trough in his paddock. “It was probably two or three metres deep, more like a well really, and he obviously just didn’t see it and galloped straight in to it.” Douglas couldn’t believe what he was seeing and was sure the horse would have to have been seriously injured. “I had to look again just in case I was dreaming. He was lucky he didn’t break everything.” Panicked and without a phone, Douglas had to go and wake Matthews up and get her to call reinforcements – her partner Matt Stormont, step-father Johnnie Butcher and a local vet, Katie Kindleysides. The horse was panicked but not excessively so, thanks in part to the fact he was tired from his race just hours earlier. “A more aggressive horse would have died, for sure. “I got down with him in the water and cradled his head and eventually, after four hours, the vet had to subdue him. “She said if we couldn’t get him out in the next 15 minutes, she would have to put him down. “So I started saying my goodbyes.” Then Butcher came to the rescue with a piece of machinery he uses to lift large hay bales. After an awkward but vigilant team effort, the horse was pulled out in what was very much a last-ditch attempt. “We had to push him the last metre or so and at 650 kgs that wasn’t easy.” Locksmith had some serious flesh wounds including “quite bad slicing around his legs” and was obviously traumatised but, miraculously, didn’t have any broken bones. “He needed two months in a box and bathed his wounds the whole time. “He was no chance of being a racehorse again.” But, after three or months, his legs healed, Douglas started giving him some light exercise and there have been zero setbacks since. “He’s been in work probably five months, though he did curb a hock at one point. “I wouldn’t say he’s 100 percent fit – more trials-level fit, but I’m banking on him going good fresh.” After Revving’s miraculous win, you wouldn’t bet against Douglas. -
Yeah, same - just get the rolling circle thing, can take up to 1 min + just to load page. Was at Alex Lone Star last year with a relative & we both tried to get the odds from both our different phones and do you think either of us could get anything. Nope. Anyway think they have TAB machine there and easy to access odds so don't have to rely on phone if go there again. Its def a challenge trying to watch a race from ph, usually just watch from HRNZ page. Good to hear tho that I-phones re Newmarket don't have issues, interesting. Used to have an I-phone.
