NSW racing heads to the Hunter on Tuesday afternoon for a quickfire seven-race program at Newcastle Racecourse. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, and with the forecast set to leave the surface in a Good 4 condition, it should play relatively fair throughout the afternoon. The opening race will get underway at 1:40pm AEST.

Best Bet: Hellcibell

Hellcibell is looking to bounce after an impressive maiden victory at Scone on September 5. She made every post a winner on that occasion, as jockey Mitchell Bell took luck out of the equation from barrier two, ensuring the four-year-old wasn’t crowded for room like her debut effort on August 21. Hellcibell doesn’t necessarily need to lead again, showing plenty of versatility at the jump-outs, but we’re more than happy to leave that in the capable hands of Bell.

Next Best: Imran

Imran resumed at Scone on August 21 after a 48-week spell and didn’t shirk the task despite suffering a 0.8-length defeat. He travelled wide at various stages of the 1100m journey and showed fight when turning into the home straight, just failing on a lack of match fitness. He’s been back to the barrier trials since and seems to have improved from his first-up effort. The Sam Kavanagh-trained galloper should get a beautiful run from barrier four as he looks to break his maiden.

Next Best Again: Got An Inspiration

Got An Inspiration made his debut for the Mark Minervini barn at Newcastle on September 15 after moving from the David Payne yard. It was an eye-catching performance by the lightly raced five-year-old, who bounded down the centre of the course and was defeated only a length by another progressive type, Glad You Think So. That was over the 1850m, and with a step-up in trip ideal for the son of Vadamos, we suspect Got An Inspiration can get the job done.
