After settling outside the leader Quackerjack (+1200), the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained gelding kicked clear at the 300m mark and built a winning margin. Riodini (+380) and Looks Like Elvis (+380) finished in second and third, respectively, after bumping a few times in the home straight. 2019: Mister Sea Wolf claims Shannon Stakes The lethal combination of Chris Waller and James McDonald struck again in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes, with Mister Sea Wolf (+850) getting the better of Gem Song (+140) and Tom Melbourne (+1100). After leading for most of the race, Tom Melbourne attempted to kick clear at the top of the home straight, but Mister Sea Wolf got a clear run along the rail and ran straight past the perennial placegetter. Meanwhile, the race favourite Gem Song couldn’t go with the winner and he battled away to finish in second place – beaten by 1.3 lengths.
