Racing Victoria made the call on Tuesday evening following a track inspection at 4pm. "The track was impacted by 24mm of rain today, with up to a further 20mm expected tomorrow," RV said in a statement. "The field limits will change to 12 for all races except for the Maiden Plate and BM58 Handicap (1600m), which will be 11. The updated fields are on the Racing Australia website. "All scratchings for the meeting will be reinstated, with trainers having until 7:30am tomorrow to scratch their horses free of charge." Doomed Posted October 4, 2023 Share Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) Always a tricky decision. Only one race with more than 7 starters. They probably would have had similar if they had raced on the heavy turf track. Of course if the turf track was unsafe to race on at least they got a race-meeting this way.
