Going to be an anxious couple of days for the connections of Zacada and Charles Road, probably no chance, but just running in the MC would be right up there

Thinkin Big a good chance in the Derby

10 of 13 in the Lexus, behind them in qualifying order

I'd say Sir Charles Road will get in for sure. Zacada might be a candidate for discretionary removal although they may not exercise that right.

"The conditions of the 2018 Lexus Melbourne Cup provide for the VRC Board, at its discretion, to eliminate a horse(s) from the final field of 24 in certain circumstances. The conditions DO NOT provide for the promotion of a horse(s) into the field. If such discretionary elimination does occur, replacement of such horse(s) will be according to the normal balloting order with the next horse(s) in the order of entry making its way into the final field of 24. In this regard horses outside the top 24 will not be promoted over other horses."

Would they be prepared to eliminate a horse owned by NZ racing royalty, Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan

I doubt they would do it for any horse. But who owns it should never be a consideration. Given the outcry over there about NH horses, I doubt even more so they would eliminate a NZ/Aus bred horse if it meant a NH horse was next in line.
