Third in the GIII Risen Star S. last out, the 3-1 shot had to come from behind as the favorite led the field through fractions of :23.49 and :48.33. Wide but full of momentum off the turn, Catching Freedom stormed to the front inside the final sixteenth and picked up 100 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby with the upset win.
