Wingman
Reading about Velocious in Raceform, Trainer Marsh says with regards to next year "The introduction of that NZB Kiwi has certainly changed the way we will look at this filly's 3yo campaign. She won't be going down south in the spring. It's going to be a case of working backwards from Ellerslie in March, which will be her grand final" unquote. The Kiwi has a stake of 3.5 million. This will seriously dilute the quality of the guineas races at Riccarton. My thought as written in an earlier post a few months back is to move the 1000 and 2000 guineas to Trentham in December and put the Oaks to Riccarton late March. The question remains do NZTR understand how these large money races will undermine the group pattern and will they adjust the calendar to maximise quality?

Answer NO. I don't think the Breeders realise what these Novelty races do either to the Group pattern. I don't think ENTAIN understands either that their revenue will improve because of them. What we will end up with is two sets of horses that can't compete against each other. Madness!

Just another version of the KM, we will soon have the breeders screaming out for blacktype status for these new races & they'll probably get it. Can NZ Blacktype be discounted anymore, answer to that is probably yes.

Now the easy way around it would be to open the KM and NZB to any horse that pays the nom fee!!!!

I don't think the likes of Keeneland have to offer them to get the best horses there.

I can just see the studs ignoring the Sales races in pedigrees when comes to buying stock, stallions & for the sales etc .... not!
