Yankiwi
Last week. Two days apart. Same trainer/kennel. Same ownership. Same Stud. Different Dams. One is male. One is female. One is less than 3 years old. One is less than 2 years old. Both had won the race prior to having their seizure. Toxins which cause seizures in dogs from an unbiased source. https://sevneurology.com/blog/toxins-for-dog-seizures Surely with two instances, GRNZ and/or RIB will be all over this anomaly for the welfare of the dogs. No other greyhounds in NZ have been reported by the RIB as being stood down due to seizures in 2024.
Chief Stipe
Nothing is happening here. Both dogs were cleared to return to their trainers. Seizure is an extravagent word for any number of things that could have happened. They may have fainted from exhaustion. I've decided. Be very very careful @Yankiwi where you head with this. Then why were the two dogs stood down requiring veterinary clearance & a trial? They seem odd requirements to impose because nothing happened. Mitcham Millie hasn't completed a return to racing trial since winning at Southland then having a post-race seizure nearly 4 weeks ago. https://www.grnz.co.nz/greyhounds/profiles.aspx?AnimalID=35641 Mitcham Minty hasn't completed a return to racing trial since winning its maiden race at Christchurch in quick time then having a post-race seizure nearly 4 weeks ago. https://www.grnz.co.nz/greyhounds/profiles.aspx?AnimalID=36666 I sure hope that GRNZ, the RIB and/or the Veterinarian was/are able to get to the bottom of what caused these back-to-back very rare anomalies. As I posted previously the even description could cover any number of possibilities from very minor to major. 22 minutes ago, Yankiwi said: Then why were the two dogs stood down requiring veterinary clearance & a trial? Isn't that standard practice now? Make your mind up - on the one hand you argue that GRNZ Vets aren't doing enough for dog welfare and now you are criticising them when they do something for dog welfare. 23 minutes ago, Yankiwi said: They seem odd requirements to impose because nothing happened. The inference you made in starting this Topic is that something underhand was happening. There is no evidence to hand to show that so in that regard in my words there IS NOTHING HAPPENING HERE. If you have evidence other than your weird conspiracies and speculations then post it. That is put up or shut up. 26 minutes ago, Yankiwi said: I sure hope that GRNZ, the RIB and/or the Veterinarian was/are able to get to the bottom of what caused these back-to-back very rare anomalies. They are not "VERY rare anomalies" - that's entirely your spin. The blood tests returned clear results. NOTHING TO SEE THERE!!!
