mikeynz
Back to new years eve it seems it might be a one off race, will it get much support, no other build up races, maybe southerners will go to invers and bypass Auckland completely and it New Years eve. mikeynz
Looking like Invercargill is preferred over Auckland at this stage, bearing in mind Omakau race a $40000 free for all on January 2, may be that HRNZ have got this wrong, time will tell. One of the greatest races on the yearly Calender. reduced to a mere $100k for the winner.?? just silly when you look at the Champions that have won it. and everyone grizzles Auckland gets to much funding. Doesn't look like it for their Flagship lol. 😅. should be worth 500k . The Aussie came and conquered last year. Maybe New Years Eve date can Stop that happening.? Do yourself a treat Mikey and look at the Brilliant driving display on 31st December 2020 that defeated the star horse COPY THAT. One of the Best races I've ever seen on the planet (top 10) Maurice McKendry feeling the heat in that one as the Copy That driver. what a treat for the Auckland Racegoers !! they should do New Years Eve every Year and have a party after. 🕺🍻 Anyway the Great race again saw the downfall of Copy That (the Double NZ Cup winner) April 21st 2023 to a famous Quinella again. Another fabulously Crafted race , with Blair getting out driven this time . The AUCKLAND Cup should be a Highlight Race of the year. for 'Open class' after the NZ Cup and FFA. mikeynz
Gamma the issue isn't about the Auckland Cup, the issue is is this the right move to go Dec 31, there is a $100000 Free for all on Dec 20 for Pacers and Trotters, same days as Invercargill then theirs New Years Eve, question is will southerners go, especially any trotters if Just Believes there, bearing in mind again there are FFA races for both pacers and trotters on Jan 2, at Omakau Auckland have been the ones messing around with their Cup days, Invercargills day is perfect timing for them, finally they have a Cup Day that's fits perfectly. As for the crowd at Alexandra Park partying after the races for New Years Eve, probably most ain't bothered if it's Auckland Cup or Franklin Cup day

mikeynz
Just Believe not going to Auckland, maybe that may alter some southerners strategies, we will see.
