curious Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM Share Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM The starter lets the field go with one rider seemingly not even in the saddle? What will happen about that?

How is that not a late scratching, will be interested to see a Stipe report but from someone that doesn't follow the gallops much and talking through his pocket I think I'll stick to trotts and occasional bets on the Aussie gallops, NZ now on the list.

Well, I watched two chariot races yesterday and there were several that broke at the start ruining any chance of winning. 1

Did you see the starter let them go without a driver in the cart

curious
Took one to the jumpouts a few years back that was on a barrier warning. They let them go with the rider standing on the side of the gates. Stipe said to me afterwards that though it had done everything right, jumped well, gone straight and run on nicely, you'll have to do that again with a rider on all the way before you can line up in a race Bloody rider still expected to be paid too! I'm picking the starter still expects to be paid, as I say don't bet much on gallops where do you see the Stipes report on trackside they went back to the start and said looked like jockey wasn't in saddle. Yesterday at Addington a horse backed away just before the start, cannoned into another horse and locked wheels. The race started and both drivers had been knocked out of the carts. Fortunately they held their horses and weren't injured. A false had been declared so the horses lined up again. If a Jockey was left behind at the start would that constitute a false start? curious
Race 10 MAJESTIC HORSE FLOATS PREMIER 1800m EL VIENTO (L Riordan) - Reared in the gates as the start was effected dislodging the rider and escaping riderless with the field. L Riordan was attended to by St John personnel and found to be uninjured. Connections were advised that EL VIENTO must barrier trial to the satisfaction of a Stipendiary Steward prior to racing again.

Well that makes me feel so much better as I say I think I'll stick to the trots and the Aussie gallops now and then.
Thomass
Starter unlucky imho...attendant flings the blindfold off...some jock elsewhere starts yelling to stop, EV given a few seconds freedom then rears Harness starts a total joke

One of those was Bob Butt who got tipped out flat on the deck. The false start whistle went immeadiately , so that was a Good thing. Bob dusted a bit of the Addington track dirt off his silks , jumped back in , looped the field (when they got underway eventually) and Won by 4 lengths.* Very rare feat to win after rolling around on the ground for the same race 😂 well done Bob ! ALAS , Thomass is right and the harness racing standing starts are a joke these days. Today at ASHBURTON the trotters use the mobile in race 1 ( that's sensible) BUT in races 3 + 6 + 9 with mammoth some 16 horse fields , the Starter is NO CHANCE of getting those 3 trots away from a stand without chaos.. There will be more gallopers than at Riccarton in those 3 races 😆.🏇.
Thomass
Just had a look at the head on as well Before the gates have open EV is on it's haunches having a good old squat Stewards order late scratchings for far less...attendant still holding onto the head and rearing after the gates have opened Minimal difference and punters should ALWAYS be given the benefit of the doubt Times have changed so dont screw the punters
