Gammalite
Blossom Lady one of the true great NZ Mares to go with Delightful Lady, Armalight and Adore Me. no Aussie Mares have gone close to their records, but 2 recently retired Emma Stewart trained millionaire Mares Ladies In Red (28 wins from 35 starts ) and Encipher ( 18 wins from 30 starts including Defeating the champ LEAP TO FAME in the Eureka Slot race 😳 , the richest race in Australia ) were very quick and Very Good. Here's Anthony Butt with brother Tim Butt . After yet another Hunter Cup win .🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆. Anthony winning driving 2 for his grand-dad Derek Jones with Blossom Lady , and 5 with Tim ! amazing stuff. A/ name any of the 5 massive Tim Butt trained AG Hunter Cup winners ?. B/ here's one , for extra Brownie points can you pick the horse with a one eyed Blind ? , Ranga might be needed for his eye to detail ? (or the Galah eagle eye 🦅 😉) TABman leading Blackie so far and Goldilocks in the points today too
TAB For Ever
I'll score an early point with possibly one of the lesser known Tim Butt winners ...Mah Sish . Began his career with a good run of wins out of the Dean Taylor barn. Obviously liked Australia and the longer races , winning nearly $800 k of his career earnings of $950 k in Australia.
TAB For Ever
And for a bonus point I'll nominate another little known victor who scored two wins at the recent Blenheim meeting [ on all-weather.], back in the day ! He had his first start in colours of his small breeder/trainer , before Tim Butt took him to Blenheim to win his second start ... And a year later he won the Group 4 yr old pace @ Blenheim ...his 10th win from first 13 starts. Overall he didn't win many more......overall 13 x wins Name...... Choise Achiever . That's him in photo TABman. the B/ answer . yeah won a few down your way in the deep South at Invercargill and Winton and that and a couple of cracks at the NZ Cup . (both won by the Terror To Love including that fantastic win by the Terror when he galloped at the start and gave them 40m start and a beating ) . He was the 5th and final Tim Butt trained pacer to win the Hunter Cup.

Mister DG.....named after a great man with initials DG.. Great work TABman and also the yank in photo here , was bought in by LEAP TO FAME'S owner millionaire Seymour and was the 5th winner for Tim Butt training in the Hunter Cup . to go with the 4 you named . well done. Kevin Seymour realized the error of his ways because this horse won the Interdominion not long after and beat the best of the time BLACKS A FAKE, so if he imported more , it would of destroyed the local racing industry. As what happened with the gallops routinely now with horses like Via Sistina and any number of Melbourne Cup winners , all imported by millionaires and have 'sadly' destroyed the local horses chances in many feature races like those every year it seems now. Gammalite
A real tough one this time. With the Hunter Cup (the people's race) on soon and 3 or 4 kiwi's trying to knock off LEAP TO FAME on Sat, here's one for you guys that came from NZ to run 2nd in the great race. Beaten by a kiwi who i've never heard of lol 🤣. but he must of been alright to beat this horse. It was a New Zealand FIRST 4 too, with our fabulous horse beaten a length off his 20m handicap , Robert Dunn was 3rd with his great horse off 30m, Mark Purdon was 4th. clue = (his brother won the race) A/ Can you name this horse in photo ? B/ Can you name any of the First 4 for NEW ZEALAND in that great Hunter Cup for the kiwi's ?
Blackie
Desperate Comment Peter Jones Vic’s Vance beat him in the Hunter? Master Musician 3rd? Can’t think of the one Marky boy would have, had so many going around…thinking cap firmly on!
TAB For Ever
Well Gamma, Back from the Karaka Thoroughbred Sales this arvo , I ripped into answering this tricky question with a lot of clues before looking too closely at those Clues. Actually spoke to a few Harness folk out there including Robert Dunn and Mrs B Purdon . The photo supplied saw me recognise the white 'padded' helmet and goggles which belonged to Peter Jones , Dad of Mark and son of Derek ! The black and white jacket told me it was R.Rennie [ Special Ops ] or Cran Dalgety [ Desperate Comment]. A little known winner suggested Vics Vance who had quite a short career and Barry Purdon thought it had enormous potential.....one of his regrets in racing ! So it was Vics Vance [Barry Purdon], DC , MM and Ginger Man 4th [driver Mark Purdon]. Only VV off the front limit as you say. The Hunter Cup was very difficult to win off a Handicap ,and as a result a lot of Favourites got beat. 1

So it was Vics Vance [Barry Purdon], Incredible to think Barry won a Hunter Cup with something I've never heard of 🤣 . Must be slipping 🙄 . well done TAB. He did win it the following year too , which might not SURPRISE you. was a real PACKAGE of winners in the 90's for the kiwi's with Blossom Lady winning the 2 prior ones as well for Derek Jones. 1 hour ago, Blackie said: Desperate Comment Peter Jones Vic’s Vance beat him in the Hunter? Can’t think of the one Marky boy would have, You're on the money and TAB nailed the Marky Boy 4th on Ginger Man. a great NZ First 4. 5th home was one of my all-time favourites in Sinbad Bay. Vin Knight took him on as a moderate Tasmanian performer, and Won all sorts. Might of been the champion of Australia but kept getting Tendon injuries .

(Ranga must be on holiday as he used to be good at these but no sign of the young fella 😅) A/ Who are our 4 horses ? B/ what race do they share the Victory spoils in ? Made a bit of an error with that as they all being terrific winning horses, So have all won the Interdominion , but have all shown Speed to win the Miracle Mile during their careers as well. very versatile to win both. so B/ is answered. Pretty sure that none of them contested the NZ Cup though, but good to see the Aussie horses back having a crack at it in recent years though,

Tassie had another great named HALWES . also a Miracle Mile winner. and scratched from the Auckland Interdominion when 'paid-off by NSW Bookies after blitzing the heats. cheating buggers. had a family tie to that one too lol 😅. For the Hunter Cup this weekend , well is hard to go past the BASH Brothers. can't go picking kiwi's at the 11th hour lol. 😉. Oz draw has Given the 3 kiwi's Carter, Marky and Ant's the front row too . Will they work togeather ? (hope they do 😂👍) here's a nice article on the 'Bash Brothers' family by Adam Hamilton today on HRA. Photo by Dan Costello THE amazing family that is Leap To Fame and Swayzee continues to grow and get more exciting. Much has been said and written about the fact the two best pacers in this part of the world are half-brothers and have amassed 73 wins – 15 at Group 1 level - and over $5.1 million in prize money between them. They pair is to add to that when they clash for the fifth time – Leap To Fame holds a 3-1 lead – in Saturday night’s Group 1 Hunter Cup at Melton. They are both out of the Art Major mare Lettucereason, Leap To Fame by Bettors Delight and Swayzee by Rock N Roll Heaven. Amazingly, they are two of only three foals Lettucereason has had to the races. The other, Maximus Red, was no slouch with 47 wins and almost $500,000 in earnings. Another of her foals, Reason For Fame, didn’t race but obviously has huge value as a broodmare. She is another half-sister, being by Sweet Lou. Reason For Fame had her first foal, a colt by Bettors Delight on October 1, last year. In other exciting family news, Lettucereason herself had another foal on September 22. It’s a filly by Bettors Delight, making it a full sister to Leap To Fame. Both foals are owned by Justin Kahlefeldt, who also bred Leap To Fame and Swayzee. Lettucereason was a talented performer herself on the track with 51 starts for 17 wins, 17 placings and $180,073. She ran third in the Group 1 Bathurst Gold final and second in the Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge final as a two-year-old in 2011.
