Nearly $400k in stakes getting thrown at 12 runners at Matamata this weekend , 5 in Slipper & 7  in the Breeders (the Breeders yeah right 6 are by Aus based Sires)

We realise @Huey that you are a strong proponent of "in-breeding" and can count to 12 using the fingers on your two hands so you must be bitterly disappointed that none of the 12 are by NZ bred sires.

That's a good sign in my opinion that new blood is being introduced into NZ Thoroughbred breeding.

Although in saying that the three Snitzel colts are going places and will likely be lost to NZ.

Well at least I can count , 3 of the 12 are by NZ sires SS & Sav. they are not all by Aus sires , have a look again and let me know if you need a hand to work that out.

Absolute rubbish about new blood being introduced, any good fillies will likely be sold for large sums o'seas & the colts well we can only hope they stay colts on these shores.

What's that got to do with the field sizes and the $$ being thrown at them?

I know your idols have huge participation in these races and the 2yo scene so it may be difficult for your to be partisan in your opinions , but at least try!

For a start it isn't $400k as you stated it is $375k.  One is a Grp 3 ($150k - boys) the other is a Grp 2 ($225k - girls).

Is your main beef the field size?  It can't be the quality of the entrants as that is outstanding.

Two years ago the stakes were $85k and $120k which quite frankly well short of what they should have been.

Did you fall and knock your head on the kitchen counter last night CS? I said near $400k .

Yes its the fields sizes they are pathetic for the $$$ being thrown around, how do you know the quality is good especially in the boys race as they are winning more weak small field sized 2yo races to get to this point , any of them win the Pierro Plate at Randwick this weekend any of them on the way to the real Slipper?

I think any of the top 3 in each of the races would aquit themselves well in the Pierro Plate.  Which BTW isn't black type and is worth NZ$176k.

Is there anything you like about NZ Racing?

Not Black Type , my point exactly , do you think they would win that race?
