TAB For Ever Posted yesterday at 05:10 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:10 AM Investigate further Chief ! There are regularly between 40 and 80 nominations for Victoria races , yet often 8 or 9 accept. i suspect there is a different NOM process than NZ. At a guess I'd say the noms can be made weeks before a race so horses can have their possible campaign planned out well in advance. Note that Flemington has around 40 noms per race for Saturday ,while country meeting Echuca has over 80. Even the recent big jumps races had 30 = plus noms with fields of about 8. Well we'd be lucky to find 15 eligible horses for a BM58.

When was the last time a race in NZ had 85 nominations other than advance speculative nominations for a feature age group race? Even then I doubt you'd find one. Dark Beau
That's not the point. Virtually all races around Victoria Provincial have that many noms. Our horse [1 win] is in at Wangaratta, Cranbourne and Werribee. Being the know all that you are, see if you can work out what one she is. I'm not actually interested in what horse you are racing. I assume you will accept at whichever location has the weakest opposition. I just made the observation that 76 horses were nominated for a BM 58 race at Werribee. By comparison in NZ we are lucky to get enough to make a field. Do you want an online address where you can buy an electronic timing system from? Must be getting tiring holding one of these:
MaltedMilkshake
Well they have NO nomination fees in Victoria, not so in other States, ........the powers that be have been trying to change it as they are almost broke at RVL, with the downturn in wagering at TABCORP it wont be long before noms are charged out at the standard $65.

Racing Victoria aren't "almost broke". Or are you referring to the VRC? Regardless the point was that there are a significant amount of horses racing in Victoria compared to NZ.

RVL aren't quite as broke as VRC, True, but they are closing in fast, the massive downturn in wagering will impact them greatly with prize money being the first victim. The amount of VIC horses being shipped north to NSW and QLD is growing and the online auction house Inglisdigital is busting at the seams with slow tried horses from the ''State Of Disarray''. Over 20 of the horses in the list I posted are R61.

They've only had 1 deficit in 10 years and that wasn't due to a drop in wagering.
