mikeynz Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Nelson's request for 2 days in June turned back due to Friday night lights needing preserving, surely they can make the odd exception, ? Nelson also seeked Timaru not race before them in January, turned down but then one wonders why numbers light but Nelson might be smarter to get rid of mile racing on day 2, Auckland and Cambridge getting more races, Auckland running at Ruakaka, Easter Monday, many of the Southern days to Sunday, where possible, Waimate move to Washdyke same day as Tuepeka, Labour Weekend, will it be grass track? Manawatu weirdly race day before Cup but then nought for a month looks like 3 single days and 7 2 days. Hawera race twice mid January just after Kapiti, one day only, but running when they do rules ouf South Islanders. In reality not that much has changed, seems Harness Racing seem obsessed with more and more of the same old stuff. 1 Quote

More and more seems to be the policy but at what cost, as we all know most of our clubs are run and staffed by volunteers if you start throwing in midweek meetings eventually it will catch up. Next time your at a race meeting have a look around and take a peek at your race book then work out the average age of those volunteers, don't take it for granted that they will just appear when the next one retires. 2 Quote
Brodie Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Sometimes there is just too much racing! when you at times have small non winners races, there is an issue. Yes, get rid of all Mile races, just crazy if you are looking for wagering! Programmers that include these mile races are doing racing absolutely no good, they need to wipe them. Not sure the North Island need or deserve extra racing as they dont have the necessary number of horses and they continue to lose money! 1 Quote

But in many ways this is just another of the many odd decisions HRNZ keep making, more isn't better. 1 Quote
