Gammalite Posted yesterday at 03:30 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:30 AM This week the Main NZ chances preparing for the Interdominion see BET N WIN (trotting R7 ) and PINSEEKER (R1) at Menangle this Saturday night. Meanwhile at Albion Park where the Interdominion will be run and won. Oscar Bonavena (R4 trot) and BEACH BALL (R2) are getting their sighters on the track a bit better. BEACH BALL will be 'Deflated' in a Big way by the champ LEAP TO FAME who has drawn 2 off the front. let's hope the great horse doesn't take 'All the air out of him'. Leap To Fame should of been removed from the betting for this race. Speaking of Beach Ball, here's Todays Interdominion BOAY Comp Question 1/ Who are these 2 fine Gentlemen ? 2/ With what horses did they Win the Interdominion with ? Quote

Used to compete against their dad back in the day. John McCarthy (the Butcher from Bathurst , we called him when he arrived QLD to live) 😁 sounds like a wrestling star lol. Yes . Todd (on the left ) is near the finest driver in the world now in the States. A little behind Dexter. He joined the 3rd brother Andrew over there USA a little while back after winning the Interdominion on a former top NZ horse. Andrew McCarthy a world class horseman too, and drove heat winners of the Interdominion 20 years ago or so. **Those 3 McCarthy brothers the Oz equal of NZ's Barry, Mark and Owen Purdon. 3 of NZ's best drivers ever. 2 Points for TABman in the Comp. But . What horses did they Win the Interdominion with ? clue = One will be defending his title shortly 🤣😎 anyone is welcome to answer . Quote

I'll beat you with Obviousness Ranga. you are correct with their sire line. Not just All three by the champ sire 'Bettors Delight' but are All Stallions themselves 😎. but also some more in common Also All Three Won the Interdominion Lazarus 2017, Tiger Tara 2018, Leap To Fame 2023. All Three have won the Hunter Cup (Our biggest staying race and equal of the NZ Cup ) Laz 2018, Tiger, 2019, and Larry (Leap To Fame) in 2024 All three Hold a Title of Australian Harness Horse of the year. Laz 2018, Tiger 2019, Larry 2023 and 24'. King Of Swing held the title of Australian harness horse of the year for Luke McCarthy for the 3 in-between years of 2020, 21 and 22'. but didn't win the Interdom (fin 5th) and not by Bettors Delight. so only a '2nd rate citizen' lol. so Points Update with Ranga 🏆 scoring 3 , TABman 2 👍 and Gamma 4 today (thanks Laz,tiger and Larry 😁 ) BOAY INTERDOMINION Comp Points Update. TAB For Ever Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago An Interdominion Question from me... Q...What Kiwi winner of Pacers Final went into the series as a 4 x win horse ,with at least 3 of those on minor tracks . Q....What Kiwi Favourite for Pacers final won the first day , was later found to be using illegal gear [ What was gear ] , had to remove it for second day but fell at the start of that race . Then in the final , was lead in first but the photo proved he was only second. Q...In that final 2 x horses who scored enough points were banned from starting , for what reason .... Phew...I guess you had to be there ! Quote

Not sure which horses but was due to not starting in all 3 heats. 1 Quote

Phew...I guess you had to be there ! Doubt you were there TABman😁 if Ranga is right with Massacre beating False Step at Addington . It was 1961 😎. Cecil Devine was convinced he had won as well (in the small shadow roll) with False Step too , and was quite devastated when the photo didn't go his way. False Step also had a Fall in the 2nd round of heats , possibly Caused with the many clashes between the Aussie drivers and NZ drivers standards in that series. Cecil did a good job getting False Step to the post in the Grand Final with skin missing and all . Some of the Aus drivers Vowing never to drive in NZ ever again . woosies. 🤣😂 is Lucky Bruce Clarke not bothered later👍😎 Q3/ The Interdominion has Long had a Clause "Horses shall start in all heats to qualify for Final' . to stop anyone from having accumulated enough points from scratching and gaining a 'Rest-day' advantage before the Grand Final. Rustic Lad (a heat winner later on) Invicta and Lookaway all not starting in the first round of heats for some reason , so were all ineligible to start in the Grand Final. Gammalite Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Here's One for you TABman if you want to go back that far to the Win by Massacre. or anyone can answer. One month before the 1961 Addington Interdominion this event occurred. Forbury Park was the first club in the South Island to hold a night trotting fixture with the inaugural such meeting on Thursday, 26 January 1961.[2] Comp Question/ Very unfortunately There was a crash in the Fast class race under the lights for the first time in Dunedin, and a champion driver , and the favourite for the up-coming Interdomionion Pacers Series were sadly both injured and couldn't compete . The OBE rated driver had won a race with Massacre and would of piloted him as well . He gave the winning driver Chief Stipe Watts the instructions to get Massacre off the mark (sometimes a poor beginner) and how to beat Cecil who had to start off a Huge 48yard handicap with False Step , having won the NZ Cup . It was Inch perfect advice with the Massacre win by an inch above photo. Who was the Champion injured Reinsman ? what unfortunate horse missed the series after the Forbury crash ? clue = after placing behind False Step in the NZ Cup Quote

Who was the Champion injured Reinsman ? what unfortunate horse missed the series after the Forbury crash ? clue = after placing behind False Step in the NZ Cup The best ever...well before Dexter Dunn and Tony Herlihy......was the injured Reinsman......Maurice Holmes. The horses who crashed at Forbury opening meeting were both top horses ...Lookaway and Sun Chief ! Correct Gamma ,tho I wasn't at the 1961 Final I was glued to the radio when Massacre from Ashburton won in a boilover .DCampbell and DWatts associated with shock results Bit definitely at all nights of 1965 and remember the confusion when result of deadheat had people rushing around getting both horses back to birdcage for presentation .We always stood at the Northen end of birdcage next to the parade ring and stables with the Port Chalmers crowd ..the Forgies and Pangy Khan. So Jayar and RobinDundee deadheated with Disband third. I remember Soanfra winning a heat. The trotters final was an upset....Poupette [Harry Cox - Winton] upset Aussie champ Gramel. Dunedin was the first NZ Interdom final under lights and really Dunedin never really kicked on ...partly I suppose cos Wingatui was such a strong region for Gallops. Quote
