Rowley Mile Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Now Weir is gone, what a great time for a young Kiwi trainer to set up shop in MEL particularly. With prize money in NZ so poor, with confidence in the industry at an all time low, now's the time to strike out......there are so may talented young trainers over there that would kick goals here with the right horses. Make plans, just do it......you wont regret it. 1 Quote
Chimbu Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Good call, Rowley. I wonder if it some of the more experienced brigade might also be giving consideration/re-consideration to moving to Victoria? I'm thinking the likes of Alan Sharrock. Quote

I may be wrong, but I don’t think he would...perhaps he’d like to go... but Kawalla trains the Raffles horses in Oz...and I’d say with the stables Asian connections, he makes a comfortable living trading... Fred Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Plenty of N Z trainers have set up in Oz only to give up -like Autridge, Richardson, O'Sullivan , Collet, Pitman ....... Quote
Rowley Mile Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 Ahh, but Fred, it's now post Weir.......a different ball park and as I said, with the right horses......the horsemanship many of these young ones show is impressive......well it impresses me. 1 Quote

Guest CrossCodes Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I think sometimes some trainers prefer to be a big fish in a little bowl other than the other way around, can’t blame owners of a good horse for sending them to an Australian trainer in that case. Quote
