https://bitofayarn.com An Open 1400m ($25,000) has been added to the Taupo meeting on Sunday 22 February as an 8^th race. It has been identified that, aside from black-type races, there are no Open 1400m races in either North Island region during February.

This is just another example of the total mess that the programming is. How on earth could they only just 'identify' the issue?

I imagine the some of the top stables informed them.  Might be a KiwiB candidate looking for a last chance.

Yes indeed but it's hard to get the same response for a ratings horse going round for 2 months with no suitable races.

Maybe there wasn't enough of them.  Or even a committment from enough trainers.
