Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 14 Journalists Posted September 14 A Gun Runner half-brother (hip 47) to Triple Crown champion and successful young Coolmore sire Justify (Scat Daddy) made a splash during Monday's opening session of the Keeneland September Sale, selling for $1.9-million to Ron Winchell's Winchell Thoroughbreds. Out of the Ghostzapper mare Stage Magic, who was named the 2018 Broodmare of the Year off of Justify's success, the colt is also a half to GSW The Lieutenant (Street Sense) and to SW/GSP Stage Raider (Pioneerof the Nile). Consigned by Glennwood Farm Inc. as agent, this colt was bred in Kentucky by John D. Gunther. “He was a very nice colt and from a very nice family,” said Winchell's Racing Manager David Fiske. “The Gunthers have a reputation of raising very successful horses. We had some people who wanted to go partners on him with his. We will see how that goes out. Not officially yet. Like everything else, we had to pay a little more than we originally expected. Steve Asmussen will train him. Hopefully, he will turn out.” #KeeSept Book 1, Session 1 Hip 47: A Gun Runner colt out of Stage Magic, a half-brother to Triple Crown winner JUSTIFY, sells for $1.9 million to Winchell Thoroughbreds from the Glennwood Farm Inc. consignment.
