Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 14 Journalists Posted September 14 Chickies Perch (Into Mischief) was the 13-5 favorite for this first trip to the races, about $370 more than fellow debutante Snowdrop (Into Mischief), and made light work of her rivals to graduate by a pole Monday afternoon at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Making best use of her inside draw, the $500,000 Keeneland September yearling quickly opened up a couple of lengths on the thrice-raced Summer Dream (Into Mischief) through the opening quarter-mile in a snappy :22.27. Still going great guns on the turn as Summer Dream began to struggle, Chickies Perch widened through the lane despite not switching her leads until very late in the piece and had a whopping 10 1/2 lengths on Summer Dream at the wire. Go Missy Go (Knicks Go) was further back in third. Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin on behalf of Barbara Banke's operation, Dawn the Destroyer put together her most productive season at the races at the age of five in 2019, winning the Interborough Stakes before adding a runner-up effort in the GI Ballerina Stakes ahead of a third to champion Covfefe (Into Mischief) in that year's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. Dawn the Destroyer is one of eight winners from eight to the races for her dam Dashing Debby (Medaglia d'Oro), one of 11 Northern Hemisphere second-crop stakes winners for her sensational sire and also the dam of MSW Bronze Star (Tapit). Dawn the Destroyer is represented by a weanling Not This Time colt and was bred back to Good Magic.
