TV Angle on Reefton Finish line.

Love the races at Reefton, especially the trots but always feel frustrated year after year by the finish line angle on Trackside. It's incredibly deceptive. Surely, something can be done about this?

There are so many unknowns in the game that get resolved at the end of a race but at Reefton, it's often far from resolved. This in my opinion detracts from the event. I want to enjoy the moment, not start the questioning process all over again. We can add on some for outside runners but even that can be no real guide.

The last race yesterday was a classic example of an exciting finish being turned into a virtual debacle. Credit where it's due, Mark Mac nailed the first two but obviously his box is on a much more reliable and relevant position to the finish line. When they hit the line it appeared the grey Overzealous on the fence had won it yet that runner was only fourth. When they showed the slow motion low down replay, Sunny Glenis definitely had her nose in front on the line so I was genuinely surprised to see she had only run second. In the days of radio commentaries only, it didn't matter that much where the camera angle was on the line but things have moved on. Would be really helpful if they could line the camera angle up from the callers box.

The winning post was moved some years ago, after a melee at the gallops, one horse went over the outside fence and headed out the gate and off to blacks point, gold dust was its name, I think, in my opinion, it was nothing to do with the winning post where it was, but I reckon the rider dropped the hand and didn't steer the horse around the corner, kept drifting, and over the fence it went, I other fell as well, may have been a nyhan trained horse, post was shifted back some meters, was always a tricky angle, but now looks unreal, was pleased sods law got the win as it did go a very good race at Westport and dragged me out of a punting hole. Like the Geddes runners, good grass track trainers. Mogul couldn't do it this time around, but was good to get the 40s he paid at the xmas meeting.
