Fixing Harness Racing's bugbears

I tire of ground hog day scenarios so those in leadership need to do something. Isn’t leadership fixing the problems at ground level too so confidence is instilled in your product?

Which one is the easiest to fix for some of harness racing’s fixable problems?

 

1. Standing Starts – Stop the walking starts and running starts – Simply make them stand before the tapes are released.

2. Whip Rule – It is a just a PR exercise at the moment – Simply disqualify the horse to last place if the rule is broken.

3. The ratings system – So you start at 50 and win your first race and its all over for awhile for most horses as you are now up against multiple win horses – No penalty for a horse who wins in their first       3 starts (?)

4. Black Type at 2 minutes - Shartin does 1.46.4 and (even) southern horses motor around Wyndham etc way under 2 minute mile rates for middle distance races. – Reset the black type to 1.55 from            now.

All 4 are fixable Happy.

1.Not difficult, starter needs to do his job, but doubt he thinks he is doing anything wrong,

2. You can not disqualify the horse under the current stupid rule just because the Stipes thinkmthe driver has hit 11 times rather than 10.

There are different amounts of force being exerted whether it is 9:or 11 hits, amount needs to be taken out and back to the previous rule.

3 Ratings system needs to be altered to wins and stakes won

4. Black type for 2.0,minute speedfor,a mile is so yesterday now. Mile racing in U.S. has distorted everything and maybe we should not be taking any notice of U.S. times?

Anything that qualifies can run a 2 minute mile rate over 1980m at Addington so time to amend to say 1.57 mr for  black print
