G1SW Pretty Pollyanna (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}-Unex Mona Lisa {GB}, by Shamardal) has been retired and will go to Frankel (GB) in 2020 after connections called time on her racing career. Bred by Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs, the English/French highweighted 2-year-old filly of 2018 won both the G1 Darley Prix Morny and the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S. And was third in the G1 Bet365 Fillies Mile for trainer Michael Bell. At three, the Bill and Tim Gredley colourbearer was also second in the G1 Tattersalls Irish One Thousand Guineas and fourth in the G1 July Cup among her five runs. Runner-up in the Listed Hopeful S. in August, the 50,000gns TATOCT RNA retires with a mark of 11-3-2-1 and earnings of $518,357.

Bell said, “It’s going to be hard for her to achieve more than she has already, having won a Group 2 and a Group 1, so the Gredleys have decided to call it a day. They’re owner-breeders and they feel there is probably more to lose than there is to gain at this stage, so they want to wrap her in cotton wool so she can hopefully go on to enjoy a successful second career as a broodmare. I believe the plan is to send her to Frankel next year, which is very exciting.

“We’ve actually got Pretty Pollyanna’s half-brother in training (Neverdon {GB}), and he looks a nice horse. He’s a 2-year-old colt by Nathaniel (Ire), and we’re looking forward to getting him on the track in a Newmarket maiden either at the end of this month or early next month.”

Pretty Pollyanna’s dam is a half-sister to Grade III winner Gender Agenda (GB) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) and SP Madame Defarge (Ire) (Motivator {GB}). European Horse of the Year and MG1SW User Friendly (GB) (Slip Anchor {GB}) is under the third dam. The latter is responsible for G1 Queensland Oaks heroine Youngstar (Aus) to the cover of High Chaparral (Ire).
