In the majority of cases, horses here are good enough to earn a nice slice of the stake. And there is a race for every horse, especially in Victoria. At my track there were a couple of smart horses that should have gone to Oz, one I particular was a very good middle distance handicapper that would have just kept bringing in the money in Sydney..one nice mare did go to Victoria but that exercise highlighted the lack of experience by both trainer and owners in taking on group company at carnival time.
