The Cromwell races were effectively a Premiere meeting for Otago Racing Club albeit that it was run in Cromwell and staged the 2019 Cromwell Cup. Racing at the Mot was just another go around day for lower classes on the grass. As for stake disparity its simply a case of clubs paying as little as possible within ruling guidelines. Add to that the Harness is in decline both domestically and globally and you get the outcome you saw yesterday, turnover is king and it is simply declining so no income to pay higher stakes. Conversely, TB's are holding the interest of many more globally Greg Edited December 1, 2019 by JJ Flash
