Participating in this weekly fun thing has actually helped me. Maybe might help others too ... Heres how.

I have quickly figured out that my selections are much better at Camb than what they are at Alex. Therefore moving forward I'll be more incline to have a fun bet at Camb instead of at Alex.

Today its Roman and Whiplash in a Head to head at Ashburton. 

Spitfire has FAILED to get the points for Roman , (spitfire showing consistantancy and missing out again)

so Whiplash now has the advantage from the point from SEAPRIS and Ben Hope in the 3rd.

Cheering their runners on while in 'Lock-Down' In Brissy , (actually I think the lockdown came off last night )but I haven't finished my Bottle yet, so stuff it , staying in and watch some trots lol....

That was very disappointing for the NATION with the Spitfire Gallop (and the 2 blokes behind him in the run lol)

Thanks gamma I am glad I gave up betting with real money after the first two races! It gave me something to watch with interest and saved me some dollars!

what a day lol! It was a lottery really! Back to predicatable cambridge it is and todays performance wiped from my memory, couldnt really spot any blackbookers.

Fraud was extremely unlucky! ill follow him, he is huge, I really like those big horses especially when their trotters, and he probably would have won for roman but he was still holding onto him after the line!

I see ricky laughing with jimmy fried chicken after the line, I wonder what he said lol!

Hopefully he is in a quaddie leg next start!

have you ever considered running the comp $1 dollar each way on the selections and the biggest total wins ,it lets you try and select the value instead of averaging favs who tend to win at alex and cambridge, and as a bonus you can back it for real to add more interest! and everybody can even offer up half your returns to the first three, if you lost every race doesnt cost you anything but gives you a good fun incentive to try to get first three, 50% for first  30% for 2nd and 20 % for 3rd just run on good faith!

like texas hold em poker sit and gos, if you wanna go the money for fun cool but fine if you dont, if you got internet banking and tab internet its not really a hassle!

I just get bored trying to back single horse on the tote, i just try the quaddies, i would gladly cut the tab out and just follow the comp and know the worst result is -$ 20 for yourself but depending on how many entrants can be quite a fun idea

I would gladly help you with the logistics no problem, I LOVE HARNESS RACING! no matter where lol!

Just a thought anyway, and it benefits others when they see your sneaky value lol! cause the TAB will just restrict you if you try to hammer them, they call it being risk adverse I call it being  greedy gutless chickens! lol

Anything to heighten interest is good!

Ok so you lost me a little bit here, need help sorry, could you please explain a bit more, what do you mean offer up half your returns to the first three? I have never played texas hold em poker sit and gos, 

And this bit too 50% for first, 30% for 2nd and 20% for 3rd.

And so lets say any winnings that anyone/everyone gets, then everyone has to take 1/2 of that amount and put it in the kitty that goes to the 1st, 2nd 3rd place getters for the comp?

The other 1/2 stays with the person so they get to keep 1/2 their winnings if they actually get any? If they get win nothing at all then it would cost them a max of $20 over the 10 races at $1 each way x 10.

And putting a $1 each way bet on the horse that the person selects as their selection in comp. Is this what you mean ...?

yep thats right! you can take the selections for fun at no cost, back them yourself so 10 races at $1ew = $ 20, if you agreed to be in the actual money pool you might have spent $20 and get $16.50 back you keep $8.25 and send to whoever wants to hold the pool money then at the end of the night the top three pm their bank deposit details and you internet bank send them say it was $100 winner gets 50, 2nd $30 3rd $20 bucks 

a texas hold em sit and go is a game where people get eliminated one by one . ten players say $1 entry thats ten bucks 5 goes to first , 2nd gets $3 , and $2 for third, its a popular way of making the game go faster bout 40 mins, cause tournaments can take 3 to 4 hours and you can get blown out at any stage,its good fun, the games are like $1 + 0.10c, with the house getting the 10 cents per player for their fee to run it, that is called the rake,

In tab terms the rake would be their 17% win commission, they take 17 cents out of the dollar and put 83 cents in the tote, they display the win pools on teletext without the commision, so if $10,000 in the win pool its actually $8,300 divided by the number of winning units, so if a horse wins and has 1000 $1 win bets on it $8300 divide by 1000, horse pays $8.30 to win,

Thats why its in the tabs interest to have as much in the win pool as possible as its 17 cents for every dollar, they cannot lose, if favs win people invest on the next race and its more 17 cents they get, the commision gets higher on quaddies, i cant remember but its something like 30 cents takeou t per dollar for quaddies ! absolute rort! cause the divvies are higher they think you wont care.

I do, I rang them and asked why they dont display the pool after  the takeout cause its misleading,

I used to watch the tote at alex park when it was only tote and when the divvies changed you could tell how much was bet on the change by taking the win pool take out 16% and divide it by the horse divvy and you can tell when a $500 or so was placed and back it!

worked a treat, cause those with the sneakies had to back it on the tote.

cant do it now cause fixed odds, they rip you off with 130% markets, 30 cents overall out of every dollar! How do they go broke???????

If you watched teletext and the first bet was $1 win on one horse you would see one horse Paying  $ 0.80 cents  and the rest paying zero. the win pool would say $1 but after rounding the 16% up to the nearest 10 cents they would take 20 cents and if it won pay you 80 cents , thats right you would lose money,

Thats why they had to bring in the $1 back guarantee cause you could lose money on red hot favs,

See the $1.00 place divies on the purdon runners on the tote ? I have! without the money back guarantee they could pay 0.80 cents a place, $1000 dollars place on lazarus could get you $800 back!

At least in poker they tell you the rake, its usually $1 + 0.10 cents, some sites are 20 cents, so if you enter a $1.00 sit and go $1.10 will be deducted from your account but you will still get $5 , $3, and $2

under tab tote system $10 would become $8.30 1st would be 50%(  $4.15) 2nd would be 30% ($2.49) and 3rd would be 20% ($1.66)

so poker $10 1st $5         Tab tote $10  1st $4.15

                      2nd $3                               2nd $2.49

                      3rd $2                                3rd $1.66

no take out in this comp and just realised with internet fixed odds you could go 10 cents each way $2 for the whole meeting.

It might not seem like much but just like 0.10 cent sit and gos, people actually play more seriously as pokerstars lee nelson explains, when something is free they play completely different but even 10 cents 0.10 + 0.02cents rake, it becomes so much more serious, its so true if you try play money then go to 0.10 cents sit and go its all on, most are a dollar now.

Take ten runners at Cambridge 0.10 cents each way $2.00 for whole meeting!

Ten particpants each backs their selections 0.10c each way if they want to add interest or just agree to pay 50 % of whatever their total is to the win pool, I will calculate it if they want

This pool would be divided into 1st 50%

                                                    2nd  30%

                                                   3rd   20%

The money would be bugger all but it is the bragging rights as I feel points get a bit blase after a while but to have your name and your win total on a leader board is street cred lol!

But I would only be interested in a dividend based system, you can see how points become abit futile between different meetings, having a hot fav win at cambridge and a $50 shot get the same points is kinda apples and oranges to me.

It forces you to select to make the most money and more in line with true punting goals.

It may seem tedious but i will do all the work if needed I dont mind as I would realstically back my selections myself at $5 ew to add more interest for myself and just pay out at an agreed level or at end of month

could do it by selected meeting, every meeting whatever,

there is no need for tedious deposits. at this level you just run it on good faith and every body deposit their share at the end of the month 

If they dont they dont! its so little who cares, just like I said before if it involves money people take it more seriously , Its a psychological thing when a monetary prize is involved no matter how little.

If you want to trial it without the money thats fine, you can just deposit the money when you want just look at the leaderboard tally and you will see all the stats and what you owe or are owed!

It may seem tedious to some but if you ever play $1 sit and gos you would think you were at the world poker series final table lol! Its a pride thing! 

Just a thought, I am sorry if i made it sound so complicated, Its just I have almost given up on the TAB and this way I can follow the trots with interest without breaking the bank and gives me the incentive to do some serious form analysis without dipping too much into my $5 dominoes pizza and fish and chips fund which quite often runs down the track when Im bored leaving me abit disgruntled and hungry, especially if it was an allstars procession!

Got it. Roger that. Would need like to use a bank account that doesn't have a name on it. People could head down to bank, oppose internet banking & write on the deposit reference as their username lol. That way keeps peoples identities private.

Yes also get the $1 thing lol. I said recently that Karrots gets rage, when Karrots loses due to being too competitive. Even at $1. Its ridiculousness I know. Horses start to get behind the mobile and I'm watching that horse like a hawk. Karrots sometimes might stand up, then sit down, then stand up again. Its so ridiculous. Good grief imagine what I will be when it is time for my horsey to race. But if its a free bet received, then do not care. 

Heres a fun example - Take Copy That, race recently, was watching with a friend, we both put small fun bets on, I on Copy That & friend on both Spankem and Self Assured. They were baiting me hard prior the race, saying CT wont win lol. As soon as CT hit the front, I jumped up off the seat, "It's over" I sang with joy. "Your about to lose". Doing a dance in sync. Race still in motion. 

So yeah its not the money thing. 

Between you, me and Gamms we could prob get this thing going. Gamms? Thoughts? Ideas on top of what has been suggested?

other comps ive been in they just deposited into their phone account when you just needed the account no when people went into tabs, i just deposit and withdraw nowadays from my internet banking so easy, and you dont need to have name just number, It doesnt say who you are on the statement just what you put for reference,  

Lucky for me, I would have taken that copy that bet on, I layed copy that for spankem and S.A lol!

Not bagging maurice but I just find even though they are legends him, tony H, and C defillipi are old school and they sit back a lot of the times and get beaten by the agressive  front running drivers who make it so if you sit back they cant catch them in that last quarter, especially Colin

So I just wary when a tony h horse is running that he will not knock them round and if he cant get handy or lead he will be patient, looks after the horse, if I was driving the horse would drop dead at dead at the 100m mark! lol!

Get the standing thing! what about the mark rosanowski, tv remote control whip! goes flying in a tight finish you lose lol! he commented that on a greyhound race and I laughed cause Ive done that so many times!

My dad starts moving his lips at the finish like hes the commentator lol! he doesnt realise hes doing it but thats the buzz and enjoyment kicking in lol!

If you put he selections in for Cambridge as is, I will tally the totals div wise just to give us an idea of the divs vs points as a comparison, dont wanna highjack gammas comp with something to complex lol!

Thinking Gamms isn’t keen or would of replied here. He is based in Aus too in lockdown, which might make it hard too betting over here. Isn’t it like restricted to Aussie to bet in NZ?

Was thinking too if we all go and put on $1 each way and someone from the TAB reads this then they would know who we all are, and of course I would have the female sounding name lol.

Love the enthusiasm tho. And like you are trying to get more engagement in it. Needs more of an incentive tho to drive engagement otherwise the novelty would slowly start to wear off. Well it would for me, doing it too regularly.

Wouldn’t it be funny if we figured out who were our best BOAY tipsters, and then when the TAB has that Punters challenge, we put forward our top tipsters as a team. We could do like a running commentary like how Newmarket did on that horse the other day - that would be hilarious.
