Daughter Of Frankel A New Rising Star At Saint-Cloud

There were several unraced fillies in the line-up for Thursday's Prix Monade with immense residual value and abundant racing promise, but at the end there was only one that mattered as Yeguada Centurion's Sibila Spain (Ire) (Frankel {GB}) put them to the sword with an audacious front-running display of power. Quickly at the head of affairs from the widest draw under Aurelien Lemaitre, the April-foaled daughter of the high-class L'Ancresse (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) was in her comfort zone allowed an easy time of it before kicking approaching the final two furlongs. Soon beyond reach, the 9-1 shot had built a sizeable advantage by the time she was eased to register a highly impressive nine-length success from Play All Day (Kitten's Joy), who had 3/4 of a length to spare over George Strawbridge's Vouchsafe (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), a half-sister to Moonlight Cloud (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). The Christopher Head-trained Sibila Spain, whose Spanish owner Leopoldo Fernandez Pujals is a relatively new but significant presence on the bloodstock stage, was a €240,000 purchase at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale. Her dam was second in the G1 Irish Oaks and GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf for Ballydoyle and has proven a top producer, with her leading light being the top stayer Master of Reality (Ire) also by Frankel.
