Get-out-and-go sprinter Fernando Bluey (Kayla Cottrell) was the standout performer among the Victorian contingent contesting last night’s Golden Easter Egg heats at Wentworth Park.

Having his first run since finishing 2nd in last month’s Australian Cup, Fernando Bluey led from start to finish, clocking 29.47sec over the 520m journey.

10 heats were conducted last night after the series was postponed a week due to torrential rain, with Shima Jake (Andrea Dailly) the only other Victorian heat winner in 30.01sec.

A total of seven Victorians progressed through to next Saturday night’s semis, the others being Jim Zarr Dashian (Jamie Ennis), Lakeview Walter (Harley Whelan), Faithy Bale (Andrea Dailly), Run Baba Run (Jeff Galea) and Mr. Fix It (Angela Langton).

Time honours went the way of Flying Ricciardo (29.22sec), followed by Wow (29.38sec) and Tommy Shelby (29.40sec), while a number of Victorians bowed out of the series headlined by Shima Shine and Catch The Thief.

Four semis will be run on Easter Saturday with the final to be run on Saturday 10 April.
