Overit
Can anyone inform me if there has been any investigation into high injury rate last month on Addington track These are alarming and a mixture of trianiers where effected. We don't need an other track closed due to not doing anything about this.
Yankiwi
Not likely. GRNZ haven't even announced that they've hired a new welfare manager yet. They're probably holding back because they are trying to work out how they can justify that the position can be filled by a person that doesn't even reside in NZ. Or could it be that they're just trying to work out how to fit so many faces on their "meet the team" page? Where's Liz? Where's the secret welfare manager? https://www.grnz.co.nz/about-nzgra/meet-the-team.aspx
Yankiwi
Wasn't that long ago & Govt put GRNZ on final notice. So, what has GRNZ done about it? Well, Grant Robertson won't be looking favorably on this - On Trace magazine claims GRNZ doesn't even have a welfare manager! https://www.grnz.co.nz/Files/On Track Magazine/February OnTrack Magazine Single page version.pdf I won't inform Grant, just yet. Who is this welfare officier you mention in your post and where do they reside if it to be the case shame on GRNZ but no surprise at all. You could consider ringing GRNZ headquarters to find out, but I suggest if they wanted you to know the info would have been released on their website. Anyways, Outgoing welfare manager. New title listed in On Track magazine (less responsibility, less money? They need money to pay for Liz and the new Welfare Manager, right?) And the person I've been led to believe who will be (eventually) named as the GRNZ Welfare Manager. South African native? NSW based Dr Michelle Ledger, currently already sucking in industry funds for the Hatrick review/renovation. https://www.grnz.co.nz/News/2761/Dr-Michelle-Ledger-reviewing-Hatrick-Raceway So why is GRNZ keeping it secret? Where is the money coming from to to pay for the two new staff? Tracks can't fill cards with 12 races & headquarters needs two new staff? Wake up people.....
aquaman
The entire industry was run by 2 people back in the 80's and 90's. Turnover on a greyhound meeting would be $30,000 oncourse, up to $500,000 offcourse. Wellington and QE11 would average $400,000 offcourse at any given meeting. No bookie pretenders then, all tote. Like everything in life, it becomes over regulated requiring more and more suits. End result you go backwards.

This secret is out of the bag, sort of... So why did GRNZ report it in their quarterly report to the Govt review yet keep it secret from the public & stakeholders? "GRNZ have appointed Dr Michelle Ledger who was originally appointed to lead the review of Hatrick Racetrack. She has also been assisting GRNZ with other animal welfare initiatives and has agreed to continue in this role as Manager Animal Welfare for GRNZ." https://www.grnz.co.nz/Files/Advisories/FINAL GRNZ Welfare Report Q1 2021.pdf
