Allakasaam. Chequer Board

Anyone remember these two horses from the late 60s. Both were cup horses but my memory bank is limited. Just curious about them.

about two years before I got involved Ludwig.....but some of the horses they raced against were big winners and went on to be good sires.

Allakasaam was a great mare trained by Colin McLachlan, she got to cup class and was the winner of several country cups. She is closely related to two other great horses, Manaroa and Manawaru which were also trained by Colin McLachlan. Royal Ascot a winner of the Auckland Cup around the same time. He was trained by Felix Newfield and owned by Colin McLachlan.

Thanks for that. What is not widely known is that Allakasaam also won my version of the NZ  cup marble edition held in our hallway.

I can recall seeing a clipping from an old newspaper paper, allakasaam here I am, I can recall following one of her progeny, just on breeding, it won one race from memory, but was a long time ago.
